Meet the Artist Ramina Habibollah (b. 1992) is a Helsinki-based installation artist whose process-driven practice navigates thresholds between the intimate, the cosmic, and the everyday. Working with porous, iridescent, and translucent materials, she constructs environments that evoke interspecies kinship, soft infrastructures, and embodied knowledge. Her series As Above So Below explores the idea of the concealed twin and the subconscious through intuitive drawing and casting processes. In when the sun goes hiding, a glowing neon spiral reflects on hidden cosmic events such as solar flares and eclipses. In this project, the group is formed in such a way that the invited person can invite the next one and I now also approach you as the invitee by the previous invitee.“ I’m currently working in Temppelikatu artist studio in Helsinki. I have been here for one year and wanted to use the space and the opportunity also for encounters of a group of artists and art works. We have met as a group throughout the year and had conversations around the artist’s work, spaces, processes and forms; closeness and distance between artists and their works; disappointments, expectations, anxiety; loneliness, togetherness and ambivalence; the joy and love of doing, playing, showing and seeing. The encounters have felt good and supportive. We hope that gatherings like this will become part of what we do. Alongside the meetings, we have been working on our works and are also putting together an exhibition in the studio.
