DREAMERS IN EXILE is out today! Our first new album in 19 years, beautifully recorded by our bassist Jason Chronis, mixed by @deansatoshireid and mastered by @nomograph.mastering . In writing the songs, I was inspired by the Jazz Age, 70s fashion icons, spirituality and excess, personal history, Tinseltown ambition, and much more… But mostly I was inspired by returning home — to Texas, to Voxtrot, to myself. I now understand how fortunate we are to be shepherds of something that is meaningful to people of all ages, all over the world. I am so grateful to my bandmates, to our longtime manager James, to our brilliant friend and photographer Annie Gunn, and to the many other artists and filmmakers we worked with along the way. BIG thank you to all who have listened to and supported Voxtrot, from day one until now. Can’t wait to see you out on the road in just a few weeks. European Tour Dates Added! DREAMERS IN EXILE draws so much inspiration from Europe: Yves St. Laurent, the history of Berlin counterculture, Helmut Newton, Josephine Baker, British nightclubbing…the list goes on. The days when I lived in Europe (Scotland and Germany) feel like another lifetime, and our performance at Primavera Sound last year was my first trip across the pond in over a decade. I can’t wait for September, when we return to play a handful of concerts and I can be reunited with these beautiful old cities, which have meant so much to me both personally and artistically.

The video for DREAMERS IN EXILE is out now! Directed by @anniegunn 🌹 Since Annie has photographed Voxtrot and been an integral part of our aesthetic since day one, it is no surprise that her work here perfectly translates the song’s sense of poetry, remembrance and joy. The grainy, black and white film overlaid with sparkling imagery reminds me of the mid-20th century photographs of Herbert Tobias, one of my favorite artists. It was truly an honor to work with Annie, @petersimonite and @themaclennan on this — I feel lucky to be surrounded by great artists and to have maintained these relationships for decades. The song was inspired by the 1961 film Paris Blues — how the bohemia depicted in it echoed my own years in Europe. TOUR THROUGH MY EYES 👁️ Thank you so much to everyone who came to our DREAMERS IN EXILE U.S. + Toronto run! It was a truly wonderful experience. My biggest takeaway is how real and sustaining the love is for Voxtrot’s music… Through both victories and disappointments, I have learned so much in my career, and am grateful to have arrived at a place where I can see that the work is etched into people’s lives in a deep, meaningful way. That is honestly the greatest reward, and is something I take very seriously, so once again…thank you 🙏🏽 Big props to our tour managers @accordingtowolfgang + @the_auteur — we couldn’t have done it without you. We hope to see you in June, when we open for my great heroes @belleandsebastian at @acllive here in Austin, Texas. April 10 @MusicHallOfWB , Austin, TX indie pop band @Voxtrot_ATX returned to the venue where I first saw them in 2007, on the last week of North American touring for their réunion LP Dreamers in Exile (a Europe + UK tour is slated for September), recorded by the original quintet, opening with the album's one-two punch start of “Another Fire” and “Fighting Back”, which matches the excellence of their sparkling early EPs and sole previous eponymous 2007 LP of hooky, literate songs by lead singer-songwriter @RameshInSpace that were heralded by the mid-2000s music blog scene. Voxtrot, with Jack Van Norman 🎹 🎤 filling in for non-touring original member Jared van Fleet (who joined in as a surprise guest for “Wrecking Force” and “Long Haul”) played a tight, rousing set of material from almost all of their releases, including a blistering build-up on debut LP standout “Kid Gloves” and the entirety of masterful 2005 debut EP Raised by Wolves, featuring bouncy fan fave “The Start of Something”, a powerful final encore of The Cure-like gem “Missing Pieces”, and the title track, which is a personal fave that captures the careening confusion of misdirected young love with raw honesty and rhythmic punch.
