Ep 0: Closing the Green Gap, Lancaster Youth Hub, North Kensington 📍
We’ve never been afforded the luxury of sitting on the fence - now we move. Join us.
In collaboration with @fitforlifeyouth@young_kandc@ldnsportstrust - with thanks to @spacehive 🌱
a tiny leaf out of my notebook from yesterday
Huge thanks again to the wonderful Kew youth council members who put on yesterdays event @kewgardens 🌱
I learnt a lot about fungi, listened to inspiring speakers @kiankhalilian , marvelled at the gardens, saw some familiar faces and met some lovely new nature obsessed mates. Having events created by young people and designed for them is so essential, can’t wait for the next! ⭐️
I had the privilege to go stay with my friend in Cornwall this summer. Cornwall will always have a soft spot in my heart 💛 the beaches, nature and walks are some of the best I’ve seen. Here are just a small handful of things I saw whilst I was there.
* A very special highlight from this trip was seeing my first raven up close, those birds aren’t messing around - they’re absolutely enormous!
a sensory adventure around @kewgardens the other day on a trip with @bostse1 , bark flaking off a tree, spiky cacti and succulents smooth and bumpy.
One of my favourite things about taking walks outside is being able to feel all of the different textures along my journey. Next time you’re outside and see a plant or tree why don’t you have a feel 🤚 🌱
Last weekend at the Wayfinders for Birds and Scrubland with @youngwilders_ 🌱🐦⬛
Very grateful for the welcoming community you have created for learning 💛. I picked up so much and felt like I was giggling the whole weekend.
What was everyone’s weekend highlight?
Mine were Dani’s crossword and spotting a deer prancing through the forest 🦌
take your mates birdwatching!! It’s fun -I promise ✨
Here are just a handful of the things we spotted on a recent trip to @rspbtitchwell_snettisham
the highlights that weren’t pictured were a bearded tit and a spoonbill 🥹
Last weekend I went to explore Poole with some lovely nature amigos. The highlights had to be seeing avocets for the first time and visiting @rspbarne - whose peaceful heathland and tropical smells of gorse🥥🌴have stuck with me ever since.
The trip was full of lifers for me, red squirrels 🐿️ at @ntbrownsea and white tailed eagles and osprey @birdsofpooleharbour to name but a few. Thank you so much @myabambrick , Sam & @seb_elwood_wildlife for helping us spot some amazing birds 💛 We also followed a tip and managed to spot peregrines chilling above the local ASDA which was rather cool too 🛒✨
what’s something that made you smile today? (no matter how small) 💛
During this time I thought it important to acknowledge what is happening right now.
Seeing the destruction caused by climate change in LA is devastating. As well as the continued suffering and atrocities being committed against families in Gaza. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is being affected right now.
During times of immense grief we can sometimes feel guilty for our own moments of joy. How could we possibly feel happy when there are such awful injustices being committed against our own?
However these small moments of happiness are what can strengthen us to keep going and to continue to advocate for those who need it and the planet 🌎
sending love to everyone 💗
Plant your feet, and see what surrounds them🌱
I did a mindfulness exercise the other day inspired by @sara_lil_plants talk at the explorers symposium.
• how many different plants are there?
• what different colours do you notice?
• can you identify some of them?
• if you can, get a little bit closer, what do they feel like?
Thanks Sara for introducing me to this practice ✨
And thank you to all of the lovely people who helped me with the ID’ing @orioninoblivion@princess_flav@o_kaywhatshappening@j.p.e.arce and my lovely grandma.
And a question for you all, what is the mystery leaf in the middle? There have been many different votes and my mind is boggled 😂💛
