Let’s celebrate! 🎉 This May, we honored our students’ achievements beyond the classroom. At the Adele Sebbag Arts Dinner and Athletics Dinner, students were treated to feasts and tributes in recognition of the talent and spirit they bring to the Ramaz community.
Grade 3 parents went around the world in 60 minutes! 🌍 Third graders spent the past few months becoming experts in a country such as Mexico, Peru, Greece, and more. They worked with their general studies, art, and innovation lab teachers to study the language, culture, art, food, and landmarks in small groups before presenting to their parents at the International Festival!
At Ramaz, Leila G. '26 learned the importance of giving back and doing chesed. Her favorite memories from Ramaz are all of the chesed missions and volunteer opportunities that she went to with Dr. Block. Next year, Leila will go to Reichman University in Israel before studying early childhood and special education at NYU. If she were to go back and speak to herself as a freshman, she would say "trust the process and don't stress too much!"
Joseph K. '26 dedicated his Ramaz experience to helping others through community service. For that, he won the Boris Z. Gorlin Tikkun Olam Award. Joseph's favorite memory from Ramaz was traveling to Nashville, North Carolina, on a relief mission to repair homes that were destroyed by Hurricane Helene. Next year, when he goes to YTVA before the University of Pennsylvania, he hopes to maintain the friendships and connections that he's made during his time at Ramaz.
Who else can say that they saved over 150 lives while in high school? Elliott W. '26 organized a blood drive that collected 50 pints of blood! At Ramaz, Elliott learned to value hard work, strong friendships, and Jewish community. Next year, when he goes to UChicago to study economics, he hopes to be an active member of Jewish life by participating in learning and Shabbat dinners. Elliott encourages incoming freshman to get involved in as many extracurriculars as possible so that they can explore their interests and passions.
…and the crowd went wild!!! No, this wasn’t playoff basketball at MSG, it was the Grade 4 Chidon Beyahadut v’ Tanach! After studying Sefer Bereshit and other topics in Judaism, the top 12 students from the fourth grade competed in a competition inspired by the International Chidon HaTanach competition in Israel, cheered on by all their classmates, teachers, and special guests! Congrats to first place winner Jon Jon L. ’34, Yannai G. ’34, and Aria A. ’34.
Racheli V. '26 is a leader wherever she goes, and that won't change after graduation. She is most proud of winning the William Goldberg Award, because it signals that classmates and teachers know she is someone they can depend on as an outstanding member of the Ramaz community. One of her favorite memories at Ramaz has been performing at the Moadon showcase on Yom HaAtzmaut. Her advice to incoming freshmen? "Don't overthink."
Looking back on her high school experience, Mai S. '26 is proud of how much she's grown as a person while staying true to herself. One of her favorite experiences has been performing in the 24-hour musical. Next year, she will be majoring in engineering at the University of Maryland, where she hopes to use the time management skills that she's learned at Ramaz. She wants to tell her freshman self not to stress out, "because at the end of the day, everything ends up working out!"
When Sam K. '26 came to Ramaz as a freshman, he was nervous that it would be hard to make friends. He couldn't have been more wrong and now says he has friends for life! After graduation, Sam is going to start on his D1 Water Polo team while studying accounting. His advice to incoming freshmen is to work hard and maintain a positive outlook.
What an amazing day of Hesed with @ramazschool and @moise_safra_center 🤍 last week the 10th graders at Ramaz joined together to make 250 mazza meals for SBH clients AND package beautiful gifts for widows for Mother’s Day 💐🙏🏻
We heard inspiring words about what SBH does from our Director of Volunteers, Dina Kraiem and everyone left inspired and fulfilled!
What a beautiful day of hesed!!! ❤️
From making it to the varsity soccer playoffs to bonding with classmates on the Shabbaton, Mia G. '26 has such fond memories of freshman year. Her advice to incoming freshmen is to take everything one step at time and not put too much pressure on themselves. At Ramaz, she learned to always be kind and help people in need, and she hopes to take that with her when she goes to college and then the IDF!
When Chana G. '26 transferred to Ramaz her junior year, she was proud of how quickly she found her footing socially and academically. She will always remember going to North Carolina for a chesed mission at the beginning of her junior year. When she graduates and attends Northeastern University, Chana hopes to keep in touch with her friends and continue to grow Jewishly.
