Humbled, honored and grateful! My first time in a documentary and I was nervously excited. I arrived early, accompanied by my dear friend Andrea Jones Sojola who helped to calm me down. The experience of attending the Bushwick Film Festival as a participant in the Gangees’ Love story was one thing but to meet the descendants of Rah Crawford’s “The Art of Brotherly Love: Gangees Love Story” was rewarding and it felt like a family reunion.
As this project moves along I hope you will go on this journey with me to a full production on stage.

On October 4, 2025 at the 18 Annual Bushwick Film Festival in Brooklyn, NY, your Boy will be on screen conversing with artist, Rah Crawford about bringing his 15 year creative odyssey, which uncovers the long forgotten rescue of 135 enslaved Africans by the USS Ganges in the 1800’s to stages near you. I am excited and honored.
Guided by historians, uplifted by descendant voices, and supported by a devoted circle of allies, Crawford transforms a miraculous act of history into a sweeping cultural and cinematic revival—an epic exploration of love, legacy, and the enduring power of story.

As you know Christmas can bring up many emotions for some…happy and some sad.
However, I wish you the emotion of Joy! Happy Christmas!
This holiday means different things to different people and is celebrated by Christians as well as, non-Christians. For the Christians it’s to celebrate the birth of Jesus (My Lord and Savior) by way of service to others and the sharing of gifts. This holiday for many, also symbolizes hope, faith and Love. It’s a moment to bring family and friends together to create great memories of joy and the sharing of gifts with one another.
The best that I get out of it is the reflection of God’s gift to the World and that’s His son Jesus! Jesus is the “reason for the season” and if we all just read the Word, believe the Word, trust the Word, follow instructions of the Word, have faith in Word we can make everyday feel like a Holiday!

America is beautiful with many ugly scares.
America is so strong but is easily weakened by it’s shame.
America will step out on Faith but only after another country steps first.
America believes in religious freedom but will write laws to govern others to live only by one.
America is community, as long as, you, “hey you” get back over there.
America is welcoming to you, but not you, oh and not you over there, and certainly not YOU, but give us your riches and go.
America, a place where everyone is encourage to be the best but the tools are only for the fortunate.
America wants the truth of who it is but only if the truth makes America look sparkly, white and shinny.
Americans are finally selecting the people they stand with but continues to fall on the sword for one.

America’s flag is red, white and blue but it dare not represent the truth. The truth is…America is multi-cultural and is multi-colored so why not a multi-colored flag. (It’s been changed before)

Americans, please tell the truth that you are fearful of the truth.
Americans, please tell the truth, you inherited your enemies and choose not to change.
Americans, please tell the truth, your’re afraid of the truth you see in the mirror.
America, we are builders but quick to destroy.
America, we will help by creating a system to cripple you.
America is where I was born and though I’ve crossed many borders, I’m still here now.
America is rich, astute, powerful, brave, caring, innovative, creative, industrial, long-standing, full of possibilities and it’s mine….flaws and all!

Ms. Judith Jamison called Alvin Ailey her “spiritual walker and support.”
Ms. Jamison was a spiritual walker and inspiration to many, including myself.
It’s not often that your childhood inspiration and icon become someone that you meet and even better work with.
Over 20 years ago I was honored to be chosen by Ms. Jamison to sing “I wanna be ready” and Sinner Man” solos in the iconic dance Revelations. Each year it was a joy to hear her melodious voice give an inspirational message to the singers.
A true class act. She made you sit erect and listen just by the way she walked in the room with elegance, commanding the best from you without directly saying. She wanted your heart and soul to match the suburb dancers on the stage.
Ms. Jamison you’ve taken a beat and breath out of me for moment but I know to use that moment to prepare and proceed. Rest well, Spiritual Dancer!
