Every day consists of giving everyone my full potential. My positive energy and a lot of changing outfits. I need to do one of these on a hectic day, today was a breeze 🚀🚀🫶🏽
Leading up to La Jolla, I was in my head for weeks. I was going alone, didn’t know the course, and even though I’d been lifting and staying consistent with running, I hadn’t gone past 7 miles since December. After dealing with an injury from my last marathon, part of me was trying to talk myself out of this race completely. Then on Monday we got the news that my mother-in-law’s cancer had come back and was now stage 4, with no certainty doctors could help. In moments like that, a lot of our other worries become insignificant. That changed my perspective. Why wouldn’t I be able to do this? Why wouldn’t I keep pushing toward anything I put my mind to? From now on, every race will be dedicated to her and to anyone I can uplift through running. I know running alone can’t physically heal someone, but energy, spirit, and encouragement can go a long way. During the race, I was able to help a handful of people keep pushing when their bodies wanted to quit, and maybe that’s what matters most sometimes how many people you can impact, even if they don’t know your name.
If you made it this far, just know: whatever you’re going through, keep pushing and dig deep. You’re capable of more than you think. Don’t forget to smile.
