Performing Camp Flog Gnaw was crazy, thanks to @gomikeg for the opportunity to come out during his set. He’s also the best A&R in the game, he told me do my new song Block and everyone went crazy.

Last week I had the opportunity to speak at an autism awareness event focused on aspiring entrepreneurs. It meant a lot to be there in support and connect with so many driven, creative individuals building their own paths. A big part of Action Figure Miles is about pushing through obstacles and creating something for yourself no matter what you’re up against. That message is for all walks of life. I shared my story, how I built AFM, and the ups and downs that came with it, in hopes that it could inspire someone in the room to keep going and believe in what they’re creating. Thanks @dylanthechopz @opendoorcss for having me, and @thecorystory_ for coming out and also speaking.

If you have a pair of the shoes with the SwapNice NFC tag, you get access to my unreleased TV show pilot that I originally pitched to Adult Swim/Cartoon Network, featuring myself, Waka Flocka, and more. For this release, SwapNice and I collaborated to embed NFC technology into the shoe, giving you exclusive digital access tied directly to the product. To watch the show, simply scan the NFC tag on the shoe and it will take you straight to the pilot.

@JimmyGorecki is @Rakeemmilesraps ’ true childhood hero. Rakeem says “Growing up, I was a troubled kid. I wasn’t on the best path. Watching skaters like Jimmy Gorecki made me want to skateboard and dress just like them. That era gave me a new headspace and showed me a different way forward. It made me want to create. It made me believe there was something bigger for me. That era really changed my life.” Drop #3 out on Friday.

Action Figure Miles is based on my real life. I grew up with a mentally ill father and a mom who struggled with drugs. I ended up in foster care. As a kid going through all that, action figures, video games, cartoons, and basketball were my escape. That’s what made me happy. That’s what helped me cope. So I brought AFM to life based on the things that saved me as a kid. The blue represents mental health. The cape represents heroism — the strength and protection I wished I saw more of in my parents. Pharrell and Ice Cream were the inspiration behind the shoe reveal below. I started following Pharrell when I was about 11, and his music, style, and lifestyle showed me there was another path. It showed me I could be more than my surroundings. Growing up in Edgewood, Maryland, where a lot of my peers were caught up in gangs and violence, I wasn’t perfect, but I kept choosing better. Seeing that example helped put me on the right path. Once I graduated high school, I locked in. I worked hard. I bet on myself. And I became who I am today.
