With 36 sold out show at Dramaten in Stockholm in 2023 we are now back with an updated version ready to tour Sweden with Riksteatern.

Rhythms are everywhere – in the thump of skipping ropes on the asphalt and in the steps of the stairwell. And they do something to us, if we let them. In ”Raised on Rhythm”, choreographer and freestyle pioneer Niki ”Awandee” Tsappos wants to draw our attention to how rhythms unite, liberate and set people in motion. But where does a rhythm begin and where does it end?

If Rhythm was a character or person, who would it be and what would it look like? After long conversations and contemplation we came up with a character that takes on many different faces and forms, who is contagious, infectious, sometimes unpredictable and uncomfortable or almost scary when we cant align with it. But where does the rhythm come from? What does it do to us? And where does it begin and end? Raised on Rhythm is a dance performance that investigates, explores and celebrates the power and depth of rhythm. It’s about rhythm as a breeding ground for energy and creativity. About rhythm’s inviting ability to build community and at the same time make room for an individual identity. About its impact on our daily lives – in dance, play, work and everyday chores. About the role of rhythm in history and in the future.
