Quiero dedicar esta serie de triunfales retratos a mi amiga la fotógrafa Concha Laverán. Ella supo indicarme el camino hacia este tema. Defender el compañerismo y la ayuda mutua como camino hacia una sociedad más humana y más tolerante. Low pay, total freedom.
It started with one commission. Menergy, then Flash Cocotte. Next, I was booked for six months.
The series found its voice at Tragedy. I had taken a break. Opened an Instagram account. Got told to close it. I kept it open.
VICE commissioned one photo, then more. Shows followed, and a total of 150+ parties across Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, and Ibiza.
“Generation XXY: Queer Paris” began as documentary work commissioned by promoters and media covering the scene. Then became something else: an archive of bodies and sexualities often edited out by mainstream culture.
Shown at ETSAM Madrid, La Folie Paris, Parallel Space Hong Kong, and the Mairie du Xème arrondissement de Paris, among others.
Published in Vice, Metal, El País, Libération, Neo2, Out Magazine, and El Asombrario, to name a few.

And so I did.
Hong Kong has been removing its neon signs since 2010. In 2014, I started photographing them from below. I also returned to the same addresses after the signs were gone. The sky was the same. The light was not.

Não é assim tão difícil.
Quando estou a fotografar, só penso em fazer a melhor fotografia que alguma vez fiz na minha vida. Outra coisa é consegui-lo!
Quando edito, porém, procuro fazê-lo com amor, gratidão e com a intenção de criar a melhor fotografia que tenhas visto hoje. Happy Photos TM ;) Naturalmente, com o desejo sincero de que gostem tanto que me voltem a chamar.
