Love is the beauty of a vibrant garden rose 🩷🌹💕
Like many accomplished flower farmers, Erin McMullen and Aaron Gaskey began as food growers who discovered the economic benefits of raising cut flowers.
Rain Drop Farms began as a family hobby and vacation fund, but after more than two decades developing their Philomath, Oregon-based farm venture, the coujple has transitioned form selling mixed bouquets at farmers’ markets to supplying professional wedding and event florists who shop at farmer-owned wholesale cooperatives in Portland and Seattle.
“We haev tried to stay fairly diversified as we’ve been conscientious about growing in-demand flowers,” Aaron says. Erin agrees, describing Rain Drop Farms as a “boutique flower farm where we want to grow the highest quality products.” The farm is situated in the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range, outside of Corvallis, they grow an array of perennials and annuals, including garden roses and dahlias.
Specialty foliages, such as Oregon-grown eucalyptus and scented geranium, as well as more coveted items like lisianthus, delphinium, peonies, and sweet peas, help to keep florists interested and coming back for more.
