I want to share something that I have kept relatively quiet thus far— I’ve spent the past six week in an intensive outpatient program for severe depression. While I can’t say that I’m totally cured, the providers and my fellow group members have been amazing support, and I’ve learned a lot of coping skills and gained some new perspective. Every day is a challenge but I’m committed to moving forward and working to get better.
My favorite Taylor Swift song is called “Forever Winter”. In it, Taylor speaks to a friend who struggles with suicidal thoughts, singing “I’d fall to pieces on the floor if you weren’t around, too young to know it gets better, I’ll be summer sun for you forever; forever winter if you go”.
I made these sunglasses inspired by “Forever Winter” for anyone who has struggled with mental health or loves someone who does. They are available on my website (link in bio) and through December 31st I will be donating 20% of proceeds to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
