Trans lives are valid. Trans identities are real. 🏳️⚧️
On #IDAHOBIT, 62 cities stand together in solidarity with every LGBTI person — especially our transgender and gender-diverse community members who face increasing hostility and restrictions.
We call for a ban on conversion practices, full access to gender-affirming care, and legal recognition of trans identities worldwide.
Human rights are non-negotiable. Equality is not optional. 🌈

🏳️🌈 IDAHOBIT Day is almost here — May 17, 2026
On the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia, Rainbow Cities around the world stand together.
Because discrimination against LGBTI+ people is still rarely addressed by local governments — and that’s exactly why Rainbow Cities exist.
We believe that exchanging good practices and joint action are key to tackling LGBTphobia. The goal? Sustainable, liveable cities for everyone.
This IDAHOBIT, we reaffirm our commitment:
✊ Protecting and supporting LGBTI+ citizens
🤝 Building networks that drive real local change
🌈 Making every city a Rainbow City
Inclusive cities. Brighter futures. Together. 💜

Data, LGBTQ Lives, and the Politics of Categories
The Rainbow Cities Network invites its members to join author Dr. Kevin Guyan to explore ideas from his new book Rainbow Trap: Queer Lives, Categories and the Dangers of Inclusion.
Across data and diversity initiatives, some LGBTQ lives and experiences are now counted. But what did these communities need to give up in order to be included?
This online event will explore how the fight for LGBTQ equalities is shaped – and constrained – by the classifications we encounter every day.
It will also ask whether our current approaches to data and diversity are capable of reflecting the full breadth of people’s experiences – or are those who sit outside the demands for neat and tidy categories now doubly erased.
We’ll reflect on what this means for cities working to advance LGBTIQ+ equality.

Today, on Lesbian Visibility Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and diversity of lesbian communities everywhere.
Visibility matters—not only as recognition, but as a powerful tool for change. When lesbian voices are heard and represented, policies become more inclusive, communities become safer, and equality moves closer to reality.
As an LGBTI organization working closely with local governments, we see every day how meaningful collaboration can drive progress. From inclusive public policies to community-based initiatives, change happens when visibility is matched with action.
But there is still work to do. Lesbian women continue to face unique challenges—often at the intersection of gender inequality and discrimination based on sexual orientation. Addressing these realities requires commitment, partnership, and sustained advocacy.
Today, we reaffirm our dedication to working hand in hand with local authorities, civil society, and communities to ensure that lesbian voices are not only visible, but valued and empowered.
Let’s continue building inclusive spaces where everyone can live openly, safely, and with dignity.

This week, we celebrate Lesbian Visibility Week 💜
It’s a time to honor the stories, resilience, joy, and contributions of lesbian women everywhere — past and present. Visibility matters because representation shapes understanding, builds community, and reminds people they are seen, valued, and not alone.
Let’s uplift voices, challenge stereotypes, and create spaces where everyone can live openly and authentically.
Here’s to strength, love, and visibility — this week and every week.

On Trans Day of Visibility, we celebrate trans people, trans joy and trans leadership - and recommit to creating safer, more affirming spaces every day.
🌈 The RCN Progressive Rainbow Flag continues its journey.
Over the last few days, the city of Paris proudly passed the flag to this year’s Annual Meeting host city: Bordeaux.
This tradition is more than symbolic — it represents continuity. Our work is a continuum. Each host city carries forward the shared commitment, collaboration, and momentum of our global network.
Last year, in Mexico City, Paris received the flag.
This year, it is Bordeaux’s turn to lead.
📍 Bordeaux
