Just speaking from the heart.. It's not easy putting yourself out there I can attest to that and being the one in front of the camera is a very vulnerable position to be in. It's scary to look down the barrel of a lens and not know how you look, how your facial expressions are reacting, and where to put your damn hands and feets. But when you can actually let go, enjoy, and simply let loose and play a bit thats where the magic happens and the dance between you and the photographer can play like a beautiful orchestra. Leading up to their LBI engagement session Jordan and I had lunch and chatted. He mentioned that one of the characteristics he loved about Robyn was her smile, but in the same breathe he revealed to me that it's something she's a bit shy about.. When it's seamless you know you found your best friend.. When it's unconditional you know you found your person.. Robyn and Jordan are that couple that exude comfort and an ease about them that's unflappable. Their love is honest, it's pure, sincere and full of playful banter. This session wasn't just a formality. It was months in the making.. Full of reschedules, busy weeks, and anticipation of when we would be able to pick a date and do this damn thing.. Somewhere along the way, it became something deeper and more thoughtful. Besides Jordan sharing with me that he wanted to formally propose to Robyn he also shared with me why photos are important for him.. He said they help him to relive memories he might otherwise forget, and that he wanted something they could look back on years down the road and feel everything all over again.. He also wanted to make sure their doggie Zeena, was part of it all. She's been there from the very beginning of their little family, and having her there made the day feel even more complete. During our chat as we were developing the plan for this proposal, Jordan spoke about how much he admires Robyn. The way she's strong, outspoken, and stands firmly in her values, yet she's also so soft and kind at her core. How she doesn't need him, but chooses him and how that choice has pushed him to grow in ways he never expected. Together they inspire each other, and they show up with love that's both grounded and real. Opportunities come and go and opportunities are there everyday whether we realize it or not. For me this was one of those I couldn't pass up. Being at the right place.. at the right time. One of the most rewarding features of being a part of the wedding day is the unique aspect of being able to listen to so many vows and speeches. To then have the opportunity to reflect and absorb the magnitude of the words being used to express emotion, love and a couples journey together.. At Pebel and Adam’s wedding, there was a part of the ceremony that actually made me tear up a bit. Listening to them talk about how they first met and everything they’d been through was so genuine and heartfelt. It’s one of those things that doesn’t always get a ton of attention, but if you slow down and really listen, you can take those words with you and even let them inspire your own life.
