I often wonder why we feel the need to leave, to go somewhere else just to feel something different. We say it is to escape the mundane, and that answer feels easy, almost too easy. Because if escape is the goal, then what happens when travel itself becomes routine, when the unfamiliar starts to repeat, when even distance loses its sharpness?
Maybe it is not really about escape. Maybe it is about contrast. Standing in an urban jungle just a hundred kilometers away, you suddenly see your own life from the outside. The same world, rearranged, begins to question you. It reminds you that reality is not fixed, only your position within it is.
And then the thought stretches further. If a small shift in distance can do this, what does a thousand miles do to the mind, to identity, to memory? Perhaps we travel not to find new places, but to disrupt the version of ourselves that has grown too comfortable.
There is also something quieter beneath it. A refusal to settle completely. A subtle resistance to time making everything predictable. Travel becomes a way of staying slightly unfinished, slightly curious, slightly alive.
We might never fully understand why we keep moving. And maybe that is the point. The moment we define it too clearly, it risks becoming just another routine. So we keep going, not because we know, but because not knowing still feels like freedom.
I have taken thousands of photographs and kept most of them to myself.
Not because they were bad, but because they never felt like enough. Like they had to prove something before they could be seen.
I have always needed a subject. Something human to hold the landscape together, to give it scale, to make it feel real. Otherwise even the most beautiful places felt distant.
But I am starting to question that instinct. This need for every frame to impress, to justify its existence.
So here it is.
My wife, standing between two massive rocks.
Small against something timeless, yet completely present within it.
Maybe a photograph does not need to be extraordinary.
Maybe it just needs to be honest.
Lost between pages and daydreams, exactly where the heart feels soft and safe 🤍

Upon the shore, I stand in awe of the ocean’s might,
This is the phase where I stop, breathe, and take in the sight.
Waves whisper tales of good times and trials I’ve been through,
In its depths, reflections of the person I grew.
The ocean’s wisdom guides me, shaping the person I am anew. #cinematography #shotoniphone #vlog #thallsophile #keralatourism #vneditor #ocean
