RADIUS RADIUS is a center for contemporary art and ecology. We work collaboratively with artists and other stakeholders to tell the urgent and necessary story of climate and systems change, by means of exhibitions, public and educational programs. Just as systems are made of fossilized stories, we work together with artists to tell stories that will shape the systems of the future. Using imagination and climate action, RADIUS focusses on shaping the blueprints for regenerative and sustainable more-than-human worlds. RADIUS is located in the city of Delft and stationed in the pump house and water basin belonging to the Delft water tower, a historical national monument and architectural landmark. With five hundred square meters of subterranean exhibition space, our program is dedicated to the intersection of art, science and ecology. EDUCATION AND PUBLIC PROGRAM The education and public programs at RADIUS address questions concerning the ways by which art can reflect on and contribute to our understanding of contemporary social, political and environmental issues. The basis of the education programs for primary, secondary and higher education is inquiry-based learning: a proactive form of learning that starts with asking questions and raising debating positions. Besides educational workshops, we offer a public program which consists of guided tours as well as lectures, book presentations, and film screenings by invited artists, writers and philosophers. ⌀⌀⌀⌀⌀ De educatie- en publieke programma’s bij RADIUS onderzoeken hoe kunst kan reflecteren op, en bijdragen aan ons begrip van hedendaagse sociale, politieke en ecologische kwesties. Instead of positioning humans as the dominant geological force, the exhibition shifts the perspective to deep time and material affinity. By ‘dismantling’ the Anthropocene, space is created for centrifugal narratives that question the exceptional position of humanity and present the planet as a polyphonic archive of geological, political, and ecological relations. As such, the exhibition invites us to no longer read Earth as a backdrop to human history, but as an active player in a shared, more-than-human timescale in which responsibility, vulnerability, and connectedness are central. ⌀⌀⌀⌀⌀ ONTMANTEL HET ANTROPOCEEN — AARDSE VERHALEN UIT HET LATE HOLOCEEN Met de groepstentoonstelling ONTMANTEL HET ANTROPOCEEN opent RADIUS het jaarprogramma JIJ EN IK ZIJN AARDE met een kritische herbezinning op het idee dat wij in een door de mens gedomineerd geologisch tijdperk leven. In plaats van de mens te positioneren als dominante geologische kracht, verplaatst de tentoonstelling het perspectief naar diepe tijd en materieel verwantschap. Door het Antropoceen te ‘ontmantelen’ wordt ruimte gemaakt voor middelpuntvliedende verhalen die de uitzonderingspositie van de mens bevragen en de planeet tonen als een veelstemmig archief van geologische, politieke en ecologische relaties. De tentoonstelling nodigt uit om de Aarde niet langer te lezen als achtergrond van menselijke geschiedenis, maar als actieve speler in een gedeelde, meer-dan-menselijke tijdschaal waarin verantwoordelijkheid, kwetsbaarheid en verbondenheid centraal staan.

VELDWERK FESTIVAL WORKSHOPS Als onderdeel van het VELDWERK FESTIVAL organiseert RADIUS de volgende workshops: — EEN ONVOLTOOIDE ODE AAN MODDER. 16 mei van 13:00—14:00 en 15:00—16:00 Gedurende de workshop werk je samen met de andere deelnemers met aarde, klei en modder—materialen die niet alleen door mensen gevormd worden, maar waar we in constante relatie mee staan. Samen bouwen jullie aan één groeiend en vergankelijk landschap. — MAAK JE EIGEN SEED SHAKER 17 mei van 14:00—16:00 Een workshop voor alle stadsfietsers waarbij je van tweedehands materialen een seed shaker voor aan je stuur of frame maakt. Zo kan je tijdens je rit zaadjes strooien op plekken die dat goed kunnen gebruiken. De workshop begint met een wandeling door de buurt waarbij je van wildplukker ELIO leert hoe je inheemse planten herkent en daar zaadjes uit oogst. Daarna zetten we de seed shaker in elkaar onder begeleiding van de DOE-HET-ZELF FIETSWERKPLAATS. Aan het eind van de middag suis je met een eerste zakje zaadjes van de Pollinators van RADIUS weg. Together, you will build a unique and ever-changing landscape. — MAKE YOUR OWN SEED SHAKER 17 May from 14:00—16:00 For all urban cyclists; a workshop to turn the streets more biodiverse. You’ll make a seed shaker for your frame or handlebars with which you’ll be able to spread seeds across grey curbs. We kick off with a walk through the neighbourhood during which forager Elio will teach you how to recognize indigenous plants and how you can ‘harvest’ their seeds. Then we’ll start constructing the shaker with the help of Doe Het Zelf Fietswerkplaats. At the end of the afternoon you’ll whizz off with a first batch of seeds from the Pollinators. Gedurende het hele weekend van 11:00—17:00 zijn hier de volgende partijen te vinden: BUITENKWEEK is een kwekerij op Landgoed Buitenleeft waar Jolijn Leeuwenburgh samen met vrijwilligers natuurvriendelijke tuinplanten opkweekt. HET VELDATELIER is Het Veldatelier is een gecertificeerde biologische seizoens bloemenkwekerij en ambacht atelier in Schipluiden. HAAGS ZAAD is een initiatief van Eveline de Heij die allerhande producten ontwikkelt vanuit haar Haagse Honing Tuin. Zo maakt ze onder andere Haagse Honing en kaarsen van bijenwas en zogenaamde zaadkaarten. RE-PEAT is een jongerenorganisatie die zich inzet voor een paradigmaverschuiving rondom veengebieden. Throughout the entire weekend from 11:00—17:00 the following organisations and initiatives will be present in the garden of RADIUS: BUITENKWEEK is a nursery on the Buitenleeft Estate where Jolijn Leeuwenburgh, together with volunteers, grows environmentally friendly garden plants. HET VELDATELIER is a certified organic seasonal flower nursery and craft workshop in Schipluiden. HAAGS ZAAD is an initiative by Eveline de Heij, who develops all kinds of products with materials sourced from her own garden such as honey, beeswax candles and so-called seed cards. Op zondag 17 mei van 13:00—14:00 geeft WIM VAN EGMOND een blik achter de schermen van zijn praktijk als microfotograaf. En vervolgens gaat MILAH VAN ZUILEN van 15:00—16:00 in gesprek met Daan Veerman over de rol van veldwerk in haar praktijk en hoe zij een opleiding tot boswachter combineert met het kunstenaarschap. THIS UNWIELDLY OBJECT in DISMANTLE THE ANTHROPOCENE ANNA ZETT Anna Zett is an artist, writer, and filmmaker with a background in cultural anthropology, philosophy and gender studies. In THIS UNWIELDLY OBJECT, they take the viewer on a road trip through the mountain states formerly known as "Wild West" in the United States. Here, they meet with scientists, fossil traders, sculptors, and film makers who are trying to appropriate extinct animals and animate petrified history. Zett’s film shows how in the U.S. natural history is prioritised over Indigenous histories because it provides the immigrant nation with a material past to discover and appropriate—it provides an opportunity to turn attention away from the theft of land. It is an invitation to think and sense the various moments of material existence across various times and scales—from the quantic to the cosmic, from the organic to the mechanic, and from the historical to the geological. Can we think of bodies that were displaced forcefully and forcefully displaced matter simultaneously? Can we sense the violences of neo-liberal politics that are captured in the phones we hold in our hands and in the winds we feel on our faces—even as they remain hidden in plain sight?
