So, I did a thing last year and auditioned for a role in a movie.
When I tell you it was a once in a lifetime experience...whew! Lindy hopping on the Rocky Road to Dublin for a Supernatural trip! Mind-blowing!!
A few years ago coming out of a COVID based depression, I moved back to New Orleans for the 2nd time desperately seeking work/life balance. I downshifted my career and focused my life on strengthening some close friendships and pursuing my passion for dancing to jazz music.
A few years later I found myself with the skill set and the social environment to take advantage of an opportunity uniquely designed for me.
Thank you Ryan Coogler for the vision to create this project; @jonescurated and @gotamydance for the direction to "hit that shit"; @breonna_jordan and the New Orleans Lindy Hop community (teachers, musicians, and dance partners) for the confidence and courage to embrace my ability to embody this role; and @rockward1 for giving me a collaborator with whom to bring the art to life.
I could go on & on, but I'll end with this: pursue happiness no matter how insignificant it may seem. Don't be afraid to walk your path. You never know what doors will open when you're doing exactly what you're supposed to be doing.
Go see Sinners. In IMAX where possible. And look for the green shirt and orange bandana. I'm swinging out. For the Culture
