Nowhere Flower - Ruts the Place Radical Documents, 2025 Super limited vinyl pressing of the first Nowhere Flower record, originally recorded at Lila Jarzombek’s home in 2023 and released as a cassette the following year. You may recall us being head over heels for Heat Dome, the second Nowhere Flower LP that was released last year, and that love and admiration easily extends further back into these first utterances. Though buried beneath a gauze of tape hiss and bedroom klang, do not be mistaken - Jarzombek is an instinctively brilliant writer, with equal knack for both the earworm and the dissonant, and built from both conventional and less frequently heard instrumentation. If Heat Dome had a notably Jim Shepard/Xpressway feel to it, then the songs that make up Ruts the Place appear to be more noticeably tied to the psychedelic shitgaze and chemical imbalances of classic turn of the century Siltbreeze - think Un, Hall of Fame, The Tower Recordings. It’s the kind of singular, autodidactic music making that seems to best persist un-watched, the sound that happens when you leave something alone to work out its own way to bloom. As I said about Heat Dome, Nowhere Flower couldn’t be any more of a perfect name in describing Jarzombek’s vision. Implaccable it might be, but blossom it does. Initially available as a limited cassette, it was instantly out of print. Fast forward to fall of 2025 and we have decided to loop back and give this record another spin with a newly remastered limited edition LP! Only 100 copies pressed! If you’re not already familiar with NF and their wonderful music you can check our original press release below 📖 On Ruts the Place, Jarzombek makes a beguiling guitar centered music, that routinely veers in counterintuitive directions. Initially, she set out to make an instrumental guitar album inspired by the change of seasons. At the end she ended up “someplace else”. The winding collages presented here weave guitar, violin, keyboard, penny whistle, drums, keyboards, monotribe, and toy flutes into a truly strange brew.
