We’re excited to announce our next RadSession, Rising Narratives for Radical Futures: Talking Across Difference for a Multiracial Democracy. Join us on Thursday, May 21 from 1 PM - 2:30 PM ET. Register at bit.ly/radcommms-radsessions or at the link in our bio. In this RadSession, RadComms will share about our recently published narrative research magazine, Rising Narratives for Radical Futures: Talking Across Difference for a Multiracial Democracy. Drawing on research analyzing how distinct audience segments consume stories, and what that means for building a movement that reaches beyond our already engaged base, RadComms created a practical toolkit for telling strategic stories that move people across the political spectrum on the issues we care about most. Come learn about our findings related to democracy and the economy, two issues that are crucial to building the narrative power we need for the upcoming midterm elections. Narrative power is how we win, join us as we build a bigger we! Co-hosts: Yewande Addie, Michaela Kupfer, Shanelle Matthews, Annie Neimand RadSessions are peer-to-peer learning sessions that help social-justice communications workers cultivate skills and build cross-movement knowledge. RadComms partners with members of the network and outside experts to offer webinars to an international audience of communications, advocacy, and organizing professionals at all stages in their careers.

✨ Introducing our audience segment dating profiles✨ Are you a match? In this series you will get to know more about each of the audience segments we studied in our recently published digital magazine: Rising Narrative for Radical Futures In this People Power profile we’ve included: ✊🏽 How they see activism ⌛️ How they think change happens 📬 Who their trusted messengers are   Knowing these things about the audience you’re trying to reach makes it easier to tell stories that speak directly to their values and worldview. The stories we tell about our work matter, they can help create a sense of belonging in our movements or they can leave people feeling like our vision of the world is impractical and disconnected. Is this the audience you’re trying to reach? Who do you know that fits this profile? Save and share these posts for an easy reference for getting to know the People Power audience. #narrative #power #collectiveliberation #peoplepower

Our next RadSession, We Protest! Narratives to Protect and Celebrate Dissent, is this Thursday, May 14 from 2 PM - 3 PM ET. If you haven’t already, make sure to register at the link in our bio. Ahead of the session, learn more about the co-hosts: Meredith Fenton, Debi K, and Jiggy Geronimo. Session description: We march. We protest. We fight for our communities. For the radical change we seek, protest is a critical tool. Yet movements for solidarity are under attack. The rightwing has been using every trick in the authoritarian playbook to undermine our right to dissent, freedom of speech, and our movements’ righteous demands for accountability, safety, and justice. This session will share narrative strategy and research findings developed and used since 2017 by the Protect Dissent Network to build collective narrative power to keep defending our fundamental right to protest. We’ll also feature Jiggy Geronimo, Founder and Principal of JG Insights LLC, who will showcase the Defiance Dispatch, a narrative intervention for building what she refers to as a “culture of defiance.”

Get to know the four audience segments we studied through the media they consume! Does the audience you’re trying to reach watch historical dramas or dystopian comedy? Are they more likely to listen to conventional talk shows or podcasts about lifestyle and finance? Understanding what media each audience consumes tells us more about the narrative waters they’re swimming in, more about the stories they are hearing and more about how to reach them effectively. Our recently published magazine Rising Narratives for Radical Futures looks at how the issues we care about on the Left appear in popular TV shows, YouTube channels, and podcasts and maps the emerging narratives across these four distinct worldviews: • Our Base: People Power ✊🏽 • The Moveables: If You Say Sos 🙃 AND Tough Cookies 💪🏾 • Our Opposition: Don’t Tread On Me ⚡️ Each audience has a distinct profile and consumes distinct content, though some of the content we watched is consumed by multiple audiences. These “bridges” between audiences can reveal narrative opportunities! 🔗 Learn more, download the magazine today at the link in our bio. 🚨 Share with every movement worker you know. 📣 Midterm elections are coming, narrative power is how we win! #narrative #power #collectiveliberation

Earlier this week, we dropped our new digital magazine, an in-depth resource for talking to audiences across different worldviews on the issues we care about most. What does this research mean for movement workers and ultimately for building Left power? We must craft messaging that speaks specifically to the audiences we are trying to reach. We need to be able to translate our vision without watering down our values. The Rising Narratives for Radical Futures magazine gives you a step by step for how to do this, including what types of messengers you should partner with and do’s and don’t’s for specific audiences. Download our magazine today at risingnarratives.com and access the most recent research on building narrative power in the U.S. Stay tuned next week to learn more about the audience segments we studied and what they are watching! #narrative #power #collectiveliberation
