All this rain and gloomy weather has us thinking about how good our last track day was. 🏁
A great day shared with the Warwick Wealth Sports & GT community, plenty of laps, good people, and an even better atmosphere.
Safe to say we’re ready for some sunshine and another day at the circuit ☀️

This angle is unreal. 🤯

🏁 Simola Hillclimb 2026 — Results
Connor and Ian Kilbride took on the Simola Hillclimb for the very first time this past weekend — and what a weekend it turned out to be.
Guided by coaches Claudio Piazza Musso and Tristan de Nobrega, alongside the full NDT outfit including software engineer Paul Bestbier, it was a true team effort from start to finish.
Ian had an absolute blast in the GR Yaris, even putting on a show with a standout burnout during Friday’s parade.
Connor quickly found his rhythm in the Ligier, putting himself at the sharp end of the field — leading his class and consistently running inside the top 5 of the single seater and prototype categories.
Heading into the final day, things got tense. The team discovered the clutch plates were heavily worn — not ideal for a car that isn’t designed for repeated standing starts. A call was made to limit running and preserve the car for the Class Final and Shootout.
It was a decision that paid off.
Connor went on to win his class final, and then delivered his fastest run of the weekend in the Shootout, securing an incredible P3 overall — an unexpected, but thoroughly deserved podium.
One of our best motorsport weekends to date, made even more special by sharing it with family and the incredible support around us.

Warwick Wealth Sports & GT Track Day. 🏁
Great fun being back at the track with the Sports & GT community. Days like these are what keep the championship growing and we hope it leads to even bigger grids for the rest of the season.
A big thank you to Warwick Wealth for making the day possible, and to the Sports & GT committee for putting together such a well organised event.
Next up for Racing Spirit — Simola Hillclimb.

Wet karting changes everything. Grip disappears, braking becomes tricky, and the opening lap can be chaos. Here are a few key things drivers focus on:
1️⃣ Expect the concertina effect into Turn 1
In the wet, drivers brake earlier than usual. That means the pack compresses quickly into the first corner. If you brake at your normal point you’ll almost certainly run into the kart ahead. Leave a little extra margin and be ready for the field to stack up.
2️⃣ Avoid the rubbered racing line
In the dry, the racing line has the most grip. In the wet it’s the opposite. Rubber and oils build up on the normal line and when it rains it becomes almost like ice. Often the best grip is slightly off-line where the track surface is cleaner.
3️⃣ Be careful with braking
Most kart classes only have rear brakes, which makes braking in the wet very tricky. Sudden peak braking will lock the rear immediately. It’s better to brake earlier and use threshold braking, slowing the kart smoothly without locking up and focusing on reducing speed just enough to make the corner.
4️⃣ Survival often wins the race
Mistakes are easy to make when pushing on the limit in the wet and you can almost guarantee there will be karts spinning or running wide. Keeping it on track and staying consistent is often the best way to secure a result.
Wet racing rewards patience, awareness, and control.
💬 Do you enjoy racing in the wet or prefer dry conditions?

🏁 Racing Spirit MX5 Sim Championship Update
We’ve wrapped up Round 1 at Killarney, and what a showstopper that was. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the season. Lap after lap the action was non-stop and the level of competition was fierce.
The two-heat format with a reverse grid in Heat 2 proved to be incredibly exciting, and we can’t wait for the next round. Let’s keep the momentum building and see what the drivers can deliver during Round 2 at Zwartkops Raceway.
📅 Upcoming rounds:
• 27 May
• 17 June
• 22 July
• 19 August
• 30 September
• 14 October
• 11 November

Reminiscing over the past weekend — Power Series Round 3. 🏁
Almost the perfect day, apart from a fuse issue in Race 1 of the BMW Car Club. Still, plenty learned and plenty of fun along the way.
BMW Car Club:
Connor finished 2nd in Class A, the first outing for the naturally aspirated BMW in this class.
Sports & GT:
A clean sweep — pole position in qualifying and two race wins in Class C. To top it off, P3 overall, something not often achieved by a Class C car.
A big thanks to all our Sim Championship drivers who came out to visit us at the track. It was great to meet some of you in person.
On to the next one — 30 May. 👀🏁
