started 2025 in la la land and ending it the same ;) thank you @deadflowersnyc for this photo that perfectly encapsulates my feelings of “wtf is going on here” this entire year. moving towards more clarity in 2026 (maybe). happy new year ✨
Not all relationships are easy ones. I guess, in reality, most are pretty messy & conflicting. GP, grandma peg, Margaret Nishanian was a rollercoaster of outrageous opinions dappled with other eccentricities- for better & for worse. the better & more hilarious things I remember most are her caked on mascara, sparkly sweaters, her ability to demolish an entire bag of Hershey’s kisses in one sitting, the way she changed her voice to emulate Marilyn Monroe, her calling me rashell because it’s the “European” way to say my name in said voice, the few phrases in Armenian she’d repeat to me on days I stayed home sick from school, her love of Sonja Henie movies, her wind up jewelry box that played “Que Sera, Sera”, her love of tap dancing and her remarkable ability to paint any landscape without ever taking a class. Though I hadn’t seen her in over 15 years her energy has always bound my mom’s side of the family together and we all know the Nish will definitely live on in us (you know who you are). Rest in peace, Grandma ❤️
