Still life of Mario Aristodemo.
This still life honours my father, an Italian immigrant who came to Canada in his early twenties in search of a better life. A tailor by profession, he lived with discipline, dignity, and impeccable style.
The objects within the composition reflect the values that defined him, hard work, family, respect, savings, and the importance of time. He was never a man driven by vanity; his careful ways were rooted in the hope of creating a comfortable future for his children and grandchildren.
Printed on silk, the image references both the delicacy of memory and his gentle nature. This work not only honours my father, but also the many immigrants who came to Canada carrying sacrifice, resilience, and hope for future generations.

Artist Statement - Patrick Lightheart - Dark World Series
“Dark World Series” was born from a period of recovery after an accident that left both my legs broken and my life transformed. In returning to the tactile act of painting with acrylic and decoupage on canvas, I sought to reconnect with my body and process trauma through texture, repetition, and stillness. These works explore memory, transformation, and resilience-minimal yet emotionally charged, grounded in touch and presence. Based in Toronto, my multidisciplinary practice spans advertising, design, photography, and digital art, with exhibitions at Scope Miami @ Art Basel, Edward Day Gallery, Akasha Art Projects, Urban Source Gallery, and The White House Gallery, and features in Canadian Art Magazine, Toronto Star, and Apartment Therapy.
Exhibit is on from October 16th - November 27th 2025 @rabbitgallery
