Streetdance culture in America came about, first and foremost, as an outlet for an oppressed people. It allowed access for joy, connection, fun, and expression - a way to maintain elements of trying to stay human while actively fighting the dehumanization of oppression. This culture owes everything to the black and brown people that were considered “other” and continued to be considered “other” by a lot the people and systems still in place today.
So ain’t no way this community is just going to stand by and watch as dehumanization continues to be perpetuated by a group of people that have the collective emotional intelligence of a thimble.
