**Made With Love** This series of t-shirts forms part of an ongoing project, Made With Love, developed alongside a paper I’m currently writing for a Sustainable Fashion publication (more on that soon). The project explores how activism, empathy, and personalisation can foster a deeper connection between students and the garments they create. By encouraging students to feel personally invested in their work, the aim is to shift sustainability from obligation to intention — not something they have to consider, but something they care about. — I Sharpen Taiwan Tee A simple white t-shirt made from manufacturing offcuts — not purchased, but produced by hand. The “I ♥” graphic is reworked with tailoring shears, referencing my scissor sharpening service and exploring how even minimal design gestures can carry identity. #madewithlove #ihearttaiwan #ilovetaiwan #i❤️taiwan #isharpentaiwan

This piece is a small expression of grief, anger, and helplessness — a reminder to not look away, and to remain aware, even when we feel powerless. Upcycled from old T-shirts in the suitable colours and stencilled graphic. #madewithlove #freepalestine🇵🇸 #sustainblefashion #makedopeshit

What was considered waste becomes a unique surface of colour, texture, and value — a reminder that nothing is “trash” until we decide it is. #madewithlove #sustainablefashion #dropsheet #makedopeshit #isharpentaiwan

So yeah, has been a whole decade since I started working at Shih Chien University @scfd.fashion and quite the journey it has been 🎓 I’ve found a true calling here as a teacher, a place where I can share, teach and inspire students whilst having the freedom to develop ideas and grow within myself. This place is more than a job, it has become a home and a family and I feel blessed to have landed here. I am eternally grateful to those who welcomed me into the department and supported me along the way 🙏 @hsufina @everpassionate @ellie_shih0216 @masa_tung ♥️ A huge thanks to Liping and @itsvickylin_ Thanks to all the students over the years, it’s been fun! And yes I remember you all, names start to fade but your faces and projects are still vivid! And massive hugs and kisses 😘 to @mickey.lin.754 and Helios for the endless support and love xoxo Here’s to the next milestone…..

**Broken Perspective** Our department @scfd.fashion was recently invited by @firenzecx_official to design outfits inspired by the works of Pablo Picasso and exhibit them as part of the incredible #PicassoExhibition at @cksmh in Taipei. The denim menswear look I created reinterprets the classic jean and jacket through hand-painted blocks of white, inspired by Picasso’s fragmented visual language. Irregular shapes disrupt the expected denim silhouette, distorting the garment’s perceived structure and sense of reality. The result is a subtly unsettling composition that challenges familiarity, creating an odd tension between the recognisable form of everyday workwear and an altered, almost disorienting visual experience. The outfit consists of a classic #Type3 denim jacket, slim-fit selvedge jeans, and a 5-panel cap. Made from sustainable denim courtesy of @candianidenim , and stitched together using @americanefird ECO100 recycled polyester thread. The pocket bags are cut from a beautiful Italian cotton drill — a piece I’ve had lying around for the past 15 years, left over from the days of MisteR. All topped off with high quality hardware from @elementrimming Best of all, this outfit is designed to age and wear beautifully over time, as the paint cracks and flakes at stress points and the denim softens and loosens with use. Many thanks to everyone involved in this project. Get on down to #ChiangKaiShekMemorialHall to see the Picasso exhibition, along with the works from our department. The exhibition runs from 01/01 – 04/06 @artmediastudio_firenze #makedopeshit #picasso

**Kimono Punchup** So recently, I was invited to upcycle and remix two vintage kimonos from Japan and exhibit them at the @tokyokimonoshow — a true honour, in my opinion. These pieces were incredible examples of craftsmanship and detail, and I honestly felt guilty pulling them apart… but at least they didn’t go to waste. The first kimono I selected was made from a delicious wool crepe — an absolute dream to sew — featuring this dope, hot-pink bird print that felt perfect for a statement piece. The second was more toned down, with a blue/black hexagonal woven design, almost like a men’s birdseye suiting — ideal for a grounding bottom layer. The result was threefold. First, a raglan-sleeve bomber jacket with rib detailing for warmth, single jetted side pockets, and a double jetted breast pocket with flap. The front placket features multiple rows of topstitching for strength, referencing karate gi construction, while the rib band extends up and around the neck in a continuous line, much like a kimono. The jacket is lined with the original kimono silk lining, featuring a serene hand-painted outdoor scene with gold flake details, and finished with a subtle ra.skill branding touch. Second, an easy-wearing drop-crotch pant with slanted side pockets, made from the cotton lining of the kimono. It features a soft cotton rib waistband and drawstring, finished with an eight-loop barrel knot and fused cord ends. Third, a five-panel cap combining fabrics from both kimonos, with mesh eyelets on the sides for breathability, a soft peak for easy wear and shaping, recycled kimono lining, and an internal band made from the silk strip originally used to reinforce the kimono sleeve opening. Proud and honoured to have had the opportunity to bring a kimono back to life. Looking forward to wearing this for many years to come. #どうもありがとうございます
