The last three years have been extremely difficult litigating my case without representation. There were long periods of time where I couldn’t write music, or sing, or even connect with others. Writing poetry was the one thing that seemed to flow as expression when I needed to process things creatively. This book is 170 pages of poems & illustrations written during the most painful time of my life. The Introduction was written by my high school English teacher, Ms. DePoto, who I recently connected with again after all these years. I’m grateful to have studied with her & have such fond memories of her class. I’ve learned about myself in these last few years more than I ever have. Now I hope to start living my life the way God intended and finally know what it’s like to experience true joy and peace.

I think it was a snow day & we needed to learn the parts, so we did a pot luck rehearsal at the house. Dad had his trusty camcorder. I was a sophomore. I’m grateful for the experience during those times.. many years ago!

Thank you so much for joining me in celebrating my 49th birthday last weekend! Sometimes it’s tough to recognize the wins in life, but as EJ reminds me, every day we get to live, we win. And being around family, friends & loved ones is real evidence of winning in life. I feel so very blessed to have the family and friends I have in my life. I’m truly grateful to be surrounded by exceptionally loving and caring people. It fills my heart! Huge thanks to everyone who made it out to one of the events. We had so much fun! I hope you did too.
