16, Evelyn House | Quirk Studio (@quirkstudio ) | Mumbai BRIEF Set within a high-rise in Mumbai, Evelyn House is conceived as a refined, multi-generational family home that balances classical elegance with a contemporary sensibility. Designed to transcend trends, the residence embraces a language of restraint, warmth, and permanence, where materiality, proportion, and light take precedence over overt ornamentation. The brief was deliberately understated: to create a home that feels timeless, welcoming, and deeply liveable for family members across generations. Rather than adhering to a singular design theme, the approach was to craft a cohesive yet layered environment: one that bridges varied aesthetic preferences while remaining rooted in a shared sense of comfort and grace. The result is a home that feels intuitively familiar yet quietly elevated. Materially, the home leans into a timeless palette with marble, layered wood panelling, parquet and bespoke wood flooring, wallpapers, mixed metals, and tactile fabrics. Marble, used extensively, lends gravitas and continuity, while wood introduces warmth and intimacy. Detailed bathrooms and powder rooms emerge as moments of surprise, where marble, mirrors, lighting, and sculptural basins are composed with almost jewel-like precision. Completed within an ambitious eight-month timeline, Evelyn House stands as a testament to thoughtful space planning that prioritises generosity and clarity over excess. Every room is afforded the luxury of space, allowing the home to breathe and age gracefully, making it a contemporary-classic sanctuary shaped by light, texture, and a deep respect for how families truly live. Evelyn House, a 7,500 sq. ft. residence in Mumbai designed by @quirkstudio , is a masterclass in contemporary-classic living. Conceived as a multi-generational sanctuary, the home balances grand proportions with a refined sense of warmth, proving that true luxury lies in spatial generosity rather than overt ornamentation. The home’s most striking feature is its rare wraparound terrace, which dissolves the boundaries between the urban interior and the open sky. 3, Malabar Hill | Den ☕️📖 Located on the lush slopes of Malabar Hill in Mumbai, this 3,000 sq ft duplex is designed as a warm and contemporary retreat for a young family. The interiors are defined by a soft, sculptural language, where arched openings, curved forms and layered materials create a sense of fluidity between spaces. A restrained palette of natural materials, warm wood ceilings, marble surfaces, soft upholstery and muted walls lends the interiors a calm, tactile quality. Sculptural lighting, custom furniture pieces and carefully curated artwork introduce moments of character while keeping the overall composition understated.
