What’s better than one tulip quilt to share on Tulip Day? Why, two of course🌷🌷
Today we’re sharing “Tulips #1” and “Tulips #2” by Jill Coleman, two beautifully revived quilts with roots dating back to the 1930s and 1940s. Though the original maker remains unknown, these vintage treasures were lovingly repieced and longarm quilted in 2024, giving their tulip blooms new life for generations to enjoy.
The first piece began as a quilt top purchased through an online auction. Originally set on point, Jill carefully reworked the design into straight rows using the original fabrics, adding peach and green inner borders to frame the cheerful tulips. And nothing went to waste! The second quilt was created using the leftover tulip blocks and fabrics from the first one in addition to pieced blocks from other projects.
These quilts proved even scraps can bloom into something beautiful✨

Today we celebrate the women who first wrapped us in love — mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, and mother figures whose care & guidance helped shape who we become🤰🏻👩🏼👵🏾
Celebrating with “Maternal Origin of Me. MOM,” artist Rosell Bede Crockett submitted her piece last year to be a part of QuiltFest’s exhibit “Celebrating Women: A Quilter’s Perspective Challenge”. This heartfelt quilt was dedicated to the Rosell’s mother, honoring her life.
In the spirit of this special day, we encourage quilters everywhere to celebrate the special women in their lives by creating and dedicating a quilt of their own. Every stitch can tell a story & we want to hear yours!
Wishing you all a beautiful Mother’s Day💝

April’s signing off the only way it knows how, rainy☔️💛
And what better way to close out the month than with “April Showers Bring May Flowers” by guild member Janie B. Benton! Created as a chance to “play” and experiment, Janie dove into a variety of techniques, beginning with a creative twist on a Sunbonnet Sue pattern and ultimately transforming it into Umbrella Sue and her friends. With hexagon-pieced umbrellas and layered with embellishment and charm, the quilt captures that in-between moment of rain and renewal🌱🌸
From raindrops to sunshine, every detail feels like a celebration of the season’s shift. As the artist so perfectly puts it, anticipating spring flowers is the best time of year!

Up the ladder & across the stripes—this quilt is a bold step in every direction!
Artist Stephanie Wood embraces the graphic nature of this log cabin-inspired pattern in her piece “Stripes & Ladders.” Based on the backing fabric, she built her color story from the fabric’s palette, creating a cohesive and eye-catching design!
