Tonight we thought we would share with you this fabulous photo of three generations of Quicke’s women taken in 2009 by the Western Morning News. The 13th,14th and 15th generation of the Quicke’s family to farm the land in Newton St Cyres, Devon! 🧀🐄
Pictured in the middle is the late Prue Quicke who built our Cheese Dairy in the early 1970s, below Prue is Mary who took over the running of Quicke’s from Prue in 1984 until earlier this year when Jane (pictured at the top) took on the running of the farm and cheesemaking operation here at Quicke’s.
We were thrilled to win four awards at this year’s British Cheese Awards .🎉
🧀 Our Extra Mature Cheddar, Mature Cheddar and Oak Smoked Goat’s Milk Cheese all won Silver Awards and our Double Devonshire Clothbound Cheese won a Bronze Award 🧀
Each of these magnificent cheeses has been handcrafted right here on our farm in Devon using the finest milk, before being bound in cloth and matured to perfection in the cool, quiet of our Cheese Stores.
Creating delicious cheese is a science as well as an art and each month we grade our cheeses (which is what you can see in the video clip) making sure each batch is as excellent as the last.
It’s the third Saturday of the month already, which means Megan is at @exequayside_farmersmarket with a selection of our handcrafted clothbound cheeses and our whey butter. She’ll be there until 1pm, alongside many other local food and drink producers.
A few cheesy snaps from Mary’s travels in the US. 🇺🇸
It’s always a delight seeing our cheese crafted here on our Devon dairy farm sitting proudly in wonderful shops and stores over 4,000 miles away.

Introducing new spring flavors of Quicke Hearts Cheddar: lemon pepper sumac and... WILD RAMPS.
The duo starts with @quickescheese Mature Cheddar—impeccably crafted with a deep umami and rich sour cream tang. The cores of these giant truckles of aged cheddar arrive at our caves, where half the mini wheels are rubbed with wild ramps, half with sumac lemon pepper (only the best from @burlapandbarrel ). One tastes like a sour-cream-and-onion potato chip; the other deliciously bright and citrusy. It’s ready to light up your palate with the colors and flavors of spring.
Comment SPRING and we’ll send you the link to try these limited-edition flavors!

Yesterday evening, we had a lovely visit from @newton_st_cyres_yfc . They enjoyed a cheese tour with Jane and a farm tour with Jonathan, our Spring Herd Manager.
Here they are in the cheese store with Jane, proudly wearing their new hoodies, which we were delighted to sponsor along with our friends at @beerengineex5 .
Here’s Matt with the wonderful Tracey from the @cheese_academy at @harveyandbrockless ’ Meet The Makers event in Birmingham.
Our Slightly Salted Cow’s Whey Butter and our clothbound cheddars and cheeses are going down a treat, especially the Goat’s Milk Clothbound Cheese and the Extra Mature Clothbound Cheddar. If you’re heading over this afternoon, be sure to come and try some!
A huge thank you to Harvey & Brockless for putting on another fabulous event.
We thought we would share this lovely photo of Mary and Jane Quicke, taken on the farm a few weeks ago. Two generations of remarkable Quicke women, the 14th and the 15th!

Cheesemaking is a beautiful blend of cooking, chemistry and adventure. From the moment the milk begins to curdle, through to cutting, scalding and careful testing, every stage is guided by the finely tuned senses of our talented cheesemakers. Drawing on experience, intuition and craft, they ensure that every vat of cheese is consistently superb as the seasons change and subtle variations in pasture, milk and humidity bring their own nuances to the flavour.
Mary had a delightful day on @rowcliffeltd ’s stand at the @farmshop_deli in Birmingham. Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, and a huge thank you to Rowcliffe for having us on their stand.
April marks the start of events season for us at Quicke’s. This Saturday you’ll find Megan and a selection of our cheeses at @exequayside_farmersmarket before we head into a busy show season. Our popular cheese tours begin in a few weeks, and we’ll be attending a number of exciting trade events along the way. We’re also very much looking forward to hosting the Specialist Cheesemakers Association’s farm visit in July.
Happy Easter! 🐣
Here’s a throwback to Mary wearing this rather splendid Easter bonnet, made from cheese dummies, at an Easter event at Quicke’s around a decade ago.
