Hop down to the sherborne to see 'The Joy of the Frog' An historic centrepiece at The Sherborne, Dorset, James Thornhill’s vivid mural 'In Pursuit of the Boar' celebrates its 300th anniversary this year.  @thesherborne pays homage to Dorset’s own master of baroque decorative painting with a corresponding mural created specially for them in 2026 by Quentin Blake. Adorning the modern atrium staircase, Quentin’s new work, The Joy of the Frog, acts as a playful counterpoint to Thornhill’s dramatic composition, bringing a contemporary burst of movement, humour and imagination to The Sherborne’s historic interior.  #QuentinBlake #TheSherborne #Dorset #Frogs #FrogArt

For the second week of the Simple Acts countdown we want you to Get Drawing & Painting 🎨 This Simple Act is all about the power of creativity. Through drawing and painting (and you don’t have to be an expert) we can express ourselves, share stories and connect with one another. When we pick up a pencil or a brush, we have another medium to express the complexities of our lives. Art created in some quiet time by yourself, or collectively in a group, can be a moment for rest, reflection and possibility. Ways to act simply: 1.) Create a painting or drawing exploring Courage, the theme of Refugee Week 2026 2.) Host a painting/drawing night with friends or in your community, inspired by the theme of Courage 3.) Organise an exhibition inspired by the theme of Courage and showcase local artists and creatives Throughout this week, we'll be sharing the voices of refugees & asylum seekers, collaborating with our national partners, and sharing some of the amazing things you're all up to. So, keep an eye out 👀. 'Get Drawing & Painting' is one of nine Simple Acts you can do for Refugee Week (15-21 June).

STILL AT SEA #2: "130 deaths at sea”, an illustration by © Quentin Blake. @quentinblakehq @refugeeweekuk April 2021  - A boat in distress.  Repeated alerts.  No timely rescue.   Around 130 people died in the Central Mediterranean.  The Ocean Viking arrived on 21 April — too late.    This date is part of Still at Sea, a monthly illustrated timeline revisiting moments that have shaped rescue over the past decade.    Each post returns to a specific event — an operation, a decision on land, a withdrawal of rescue capacity — to show that deaths at sea are not inevitable. They follow choices.    Read together, these dates reveal how today’s reality at sea was built.    Follow the series and our accounts.
