We’re kicking off our Killjoy Spring of Queer Love with our May Book Club: Hijab Butch Blues! Not only will we be holding our FIRST EVER in-person Philly book club along with our usual in-person NYC book club, we’re also SO honored to be joined by author Lamya H themselves for our virtual book club 🥹 We encourage folks to join both in-person and virtually if you can— we’ll continue our in-person discussions virtually to share takeaways across regions and chat with Lamya. Join us to discuss the raw, life-affirming memoir exploring faith, queerness, community, and the journey of radical learning and unlearning that each of us ventures on 💚 P.S. Enroll in Killjoy’s membership for as little as $5/year to access all our monthly book clubs and other offerings 👀

Early Jummah Mubarak family! 🌙 🩵🫂🪬 Join us this Friday, May 1st (and every Friday!) @1 :00 pm et | 12:00 pm ct | 10:00 am pst for MASGD’s Jummah!! This Jummah, our very own wonderful Safwan will be leading a Khutbah on Labor Day and Quranic Interpretations of communal care. They will lead community in a collective reading of Khutbah/Sermons sourced from labor organizing & worker movements. Together, we will explore how labor organizing, especially ones moving in alignment with the abuse of our working class family in the Global South, is essential in bringing down imperialist empire, colonialism, and genocide. Our labor is vital to the continuation of genocide. Our voices, our time, and our attention are vital. We can’t wait to share with you all how Islam supports us in our involvement and understandings of labor movements and strikes. Register: bit.ly/jummah-2026

Early Jummah Mubarak! 🌙 🩵🫂🪬 Join us this Friday, April 24th (and every Friday after!) @1 :00 pm et | 12:00 pm ct | 10:00 am pst for MASGD’s Jummah!! This Jummah, our very own wonderful Safwan will be leading a Khutbah on Narrative Preservation: Amazigh and Quranic Teachings. They will explore ‘How might we begin to preserve our histories and narratives that tell the truth?’ All colonial powers use a textbook in which narrative plays a strong part and often we are living in the ruins of the stories they made of us. This Khutbah takes lessons from the Amazigh community and history while linking to examples from the Quran on self-representation. Register: bit.ly/jummah-2026

Early Jummah Mubarak! 🌙 🩵🫂🪬 Join us this Friday, March April 10th (and every Friday after!) @1 :00 pm et | 12:00 pm ct | 10:00 am pst for MASGD’s Jummah!! After seeing how much our community loved weekly Jummahs for our Towards Trans Muslim Liberation Education Series, we are delighted to announce that, for the foreseeable future, MASGD will now be hosting Jummahs weekly!!! We aim to utilize this time to provide more advanced lessons, trainings, and discussions regarding Trans Muslim Liberation and how we work towards developing that vision. This Jummah, we will have a khutbah on “Preparing for the Next Crisis: Surat Youssef and Community Care.” In this session, Yaffa will explore ‘How might community look like now in order to organize when the next crisis comes?’ As we know economic impacts will start to affect the most marginalized of our community first. This Khutbah goes into the dream of the king in Surat Youssef and community hardship and what community must look like now for what’s to come. ⚔️The upcoming reading group for my manuscript “Queer Muslims & the Sword” is not your typical liberal white Euro-Amerikan, identity-reductionist notion of queerness, it is rooted in reverence for the mujahideen & their conceptualization of an Islam of the oppressed & Below 📚Sign up by going to the link in bio of @queermuslimsnyc
