The last Queereeoké on May 9, 2026 marks the end of an era that I have felt gradually ending for some time now. Kampnagel and in particular Club KMH has been a home for us for more than a decade. Now with the renovation of the theatre it seems there's also a new attitude on the horizon. Low funding in the culture department is palpable and taking its toll, while others are still comfortable throwing crumbs to the ones that keep their well paid job relevant. And it's been such a bumpy journey with all possible ups and downs. Even after moving to a bigger venue (K2) I still remember and value every moment at KMH that my brain remembers and all of the ones it even doesn't. I like listening to the stories everybody else still holds dear after all those years.
But don't worry, this isn't the end of Queereeoké. Changes don't only mean decay and farewell, they also mean growth, new crowds, new members, new music, new energies. There are people who hardcore loved us and now couldn't care less :) I've been told to my face many times 🤣 But this is life. It's good that people grow out of what we do. But there are so many people who still need what we do. I am very proud of the fact that we were able to channel something so timeless.
I have been close to abandon the project countless times. Because people I valued stopped loving it, because people hurt us, because we too made mistakes, because I wanted to start something new, because I felt insignificant. The project also didn't make me financially rich (I wonder if anyone thought that) but it enriched my soul and gave me a wonderful bunch of people in my life.
"As I try to make my way to the ordinary world, I will learn to survive." It feels like an endless road and nothing is ordinary yet, I don't think it ever will be.
Singing gave me so much strength when I felt alone and misunderstood, especially during the pandemic.
I will always stick to it and develop my singing.
Feeling your voice matters.
Deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this journey.
Love
Danny
Saying good bye to our beloved Klub!

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves… join us May 9th for the closing of KMH with our..”Are you club kidding me?” show/party.
Doors 10pm.. come early to avoid disappointment. But don’t despair..as stated in the reel we will be offering a pop up party experience for those waiting to access KMH with a mobile Queereeoké crew ready to get you singing and dancing.

ARE YOU CLUB-KIDDING ME???
Vor einiger Zeit wurde die Zukunft von Danny Banany mit einem Fluch besetzt: „Mit dem Namen machst du keine Karriere!“ – prophezeite man(n) denen. Und siehe da – die Person hatte nicht unrecht. Denn wer Dannys queeren Gen X Pioniergeist teilt, weiß: Fame is for Fakes!

ARE YOU CLUB-KIDDING ME???
Many a day ago Danny Banany's future was cursed by a rando saying: ‘You won't make a career with that name!’ And lo and behold – the prophecy came through. Danny's fellow queer Gen X pioneer spirits know though: Fame is for fakes! Queer was punk, perverse and postmodern. In the midst of the AIDS epidemic, the most colourful personalities fabulously defied bourgeois decency: the club kids! Gaga’s claim to her monsters fan base today is a direct legacy to that last subculture of the analogue era: from Leigh Bowery via Waltpaper to RuPaul, Queereeoké is paying tribute to the icons as we bid farewell to Kampnagels Club KMH before its nip tuck. As loud, as camp, as unapologetic as it gets: Adieu, you filthy fuck! Non-conforming in look and song, we consecrate the fall – so long!. Don’t sleep on universe’s call for carreer-sabotaging indecency!
