The research project “Aesthetics of the Im/Mobile” is approaching its final stages. We would therefore be delighted to welcome you to our event: “Access Riders: A disability community practice.” We are excited to welcome curator, dramaturg, and access expert Noa Winter as our guest. After the interesting inputs, there will be an opportunity to round off the event together with drinks and snacks. Access Riders are a tool developed by disabled artists to help communicate their access needs. Meeting these needs often requires significant effort from the disabled person, and Access Riders are designed to reduce that labour by acting as a conversation starter as well as a written guide on how to organise an accessible collaboration. They allow the disabled person to decide what information to share and what conditions must be in place for safe and equitable collaboration. The other party, in turn, should commit to reading the rider carefully and doing everything possible to meet the listed requirements. Originally created as a tool for artistic collaboration, Access Riders are now increasingly used in other professional and educational contexts as well. In this input, dramaturge and curator Noa Winter will give more insight into the practice of using Access Riders. After their input, they will be in conversation with the Aesthetics of the Im/Mobile research team. This event will be hosted in English with translation into Swiss German Sign Language. Wer spielt wen? Eine Weiterbildung zur Aufführungspraxis Cripping up 10. Januar 2025, 10 bis 12 Uhr, via Zoom Cripping up bezeichnet die auf der Bühne oder im Film angewandte Praxis, wenn Schauspieler*innen ohne Behinderung Menschen mit Behinderung spielen. Was ist daran problematisch? Warum gibt es Cripping up immer noch auf deutschsprachigen Bühnen? Und wer darf eigentlich noch was spielen? Diese Fragen will die Online-Weiterbildung zu Cripping up des Modellprojekts FAIRSTAGE mit dem Berliner Landesverband des Deutschen Bühnenvereins diskutieren. Nach einer Einführung von Choreografin und Aktivistin Fia Neises sprechen Dramaturg*in und Kurator*in Noa Winter, Schauspielerin Kübra Sekin und Intendantin Christina Schulz gemeinsam mit Moderator Georg Kasch über Problemfälle, Grauzonen und Lösungsansätze. Außerdem soll es darum gehen, die Fragen der Teilnehmenden zu beantworten. Dabei wird es eine Möglichkeit geben, die Fragen auch anonym zu stellen. Berlin Senate abolishes inclusion and diversity in culture – We demand participation for all! The Berlin Senate's austerity measures disproportionately affect the area of inclusion and diversity – with cuts of 100 percent. The Senate is thus abolishing inclusion and diversity in culture! The Diversity Fund (IMPACT funding) is being abolished. Over the past five years, this has supported countless projects by disabled and Deaf artists. No other funding instrument has enabled so much self-determined work by artists who were previously excluded from cultural funding and the stage. The Foundation for Cultural Education and Cultural Consulting will be abolished, the project office for diversity development “Diversity Arts Culture”, founded in 2017, will be closed. Their work in advising and training artists and institutions to break down barriers is indispensable for Berlin and beyond. The programme “Diversitätsoffensive” will be cancelled. Since 2022, it has supported the employment of anti-discrimination and diversity development officers at several Berlin cultural institutions in order to break down barriers for marginalized communities. The overall cuts to the theatres and other cultural institutions mean that accessibility measures for cultural workers and audiences that have only been introduced in recent years will be discontinued. This is a sweeping cut that massively affects disabled, Deaf and chronically ill artists as well as artists who are affected by racism, antisemitism, trans- and interphobia or other forms of discrimination. All of these fights are intersectional. That's why we need broad solidarity with you all against these austerity measures. Not only are diversity and inclusion being mowed down, but a conservative cultural policy that does not want a pluralistic society is also being implemented. This comes from cultural senator Joe Chialo, of all people, who committed to social cohesion! [continued in caption]

Berliner Senat schafft Inklusion und Diversität in der Kultur ab – Wir fordern Teilhabe für alle! Die Sparmaßnahmen des Berliner Senats treffen den Bereich Inklusion und Diversität unverhältnismäßig stark – nämlich mit Kürzungen von 100 Prozent. Damit schafft der Senat die Inklusion und Diversität in der Kultur ab! Der Diversitätsfonds (IMPACT-Förderung) wird gestrichen. Daraus wurden in den letzten 5 Jahren unzählige Projekte von Tauben und behinderten Künstler*innen gefördert. Kein anderer Fördertopf hat so viel selbstbestimmte Arbeit ermöglicht von Künstler*innen, die bisher aus der Kulturförderung ausgeschlossen waren und auf den Bühnen nicht vorkamen. Die Stiftung für Kulturelle Weiterbildung und Kulturberatung wird abgeschafft, das 2017 gegründete Projektbüro für Diversitätsentwicklung „Diversity Arts Culture“ geschlossen. Ihre Arbeit in der Beratung und Weiterbildung für Künstler*innen und Institutionen zum Abbau von Barrieren ist für Berlin und darüber hinaus unverzichtbar. Die Diversitätsoffensive wird gestrichen. Sie fördert seit 2022 Referent*innenstellen für Anti-Diskriminierung und Diversitätsentwicklung an verschiedenen Berliner Institutionen, um den Abbau von Barrieren für marginalisierte Communities voranzutreiben. Die allgemeinen Kürzungen bei den Theatern und anderen Kulturinstitutionen bedeuten, dass viele der erst in den letzten Jahren eingeführten Barrierefreiheitsmaßnahmen für Kulturschaffende und Publikum wegfallen werden. Das ist ein Kahlschlag, der behinderte, Taube und chronisch kranke Künstler*innen massiv trifft, ebenso wie Künstler*innen, die von Rassismus, Antisemitismus, Trans- und Interfeindlichkeit oder weiteren Diskriminierungen betroffen sind. All diese Kämpfe sind intersektional. Deshalb brauchen wir eine breite Solidarität von uns allen gegen diese Sparmaßnahmen. Hier wird nicht nur Diversität und Inklusion niedergemäht, sondern auch eine konservative Kulturpolitik umgesetzt, die keine plurale Gesellschaft will. ***Deadline extended to 9th of June*** CALL: Training opportunity on Relaxed Performance for neurodivergent people We are looking for neurodivergent people based in Switzerland who would like to take part in the Relaxed Performance Lab from the 12th to the 20th of October 2024 and afterwards work as consultants for artistic projects and cultural institutions. What are Relaxed Performances? Relaxed Performance (for short: RP) is an accessibility framework that aims to welcome people for whom the usual conventions of performance events (such as sitting still for long periods in a confined space, unannounced strong sensory stimuli or interaction) are a barrier and who are often excluded by these rules and expectations. They are aimed in particular at neurodivergent people (e.g. autistic people, people with Tourette's or ADHD) and are significantly co-developed by them. The Lab During a 4-day lab, we will explore various aspects of RP through different exchange formats and inputs. The Lab will focus specifically on working with and communicating about sensory stimuli (e.g. light, sound, smells). In addition, we will look at how collaborating with artists and cultural institutions and communicating one's own access requirements can be structured and practised during consultations. All Lab participants will then carry out their first consultations as part of the Swiss Performance Art Award, which will take place on the 20th of October 2024 at Gessnerallee. They will be accompanied by the Lab team as mentors.
