As you might have heard, black trans elder Stormy passed away on Tuesday night after finding out he had advanced pancreatic cancer about a month ago. Stormy helped drive, unload, reload all the camp supplies last year. He was deeply involved in protesting, working as a nurse, and in leadership positions with his synagogue. He was in the process of completing his last stages of gender-affirming procedures and working toward his goal of becoming a rabbi. In honor of his many listed and unlisted achievements and his love for the communities that cherished him, we'll be renaming the Queer Campout fund after him.
Looking forward to seeing you in the woods. Happy trails!
Queer Campout 2025 has come to a close with another successful fundraiser of $2,000 for gender-affirming medical care and a whopping two summer camp sessions completed in one short summer.
The August rain was only a small part of the water-related activities, and we still managed to pack the season with campfire cooking, drag bingo, night games, leatherworking, cliff diving, tie dying, relief printing, reading, singing, running around, volleyball, good laughs, and great conversations.
As always, a thank you as big as the sky to Art Director Mya (go visit @riverpressmke ), to everybody who donated money or a campership, to every camper who attended, and to the camp staff (& Alex, also featured).
If you attended either camp, please check your email for some final information and tasks! If you want to go to camp, please follow for registration information to be released in January. If you'd like to receive funding for your gender-affirming care in 2026, fund recipient details will also be released in January 2026. If you're in need of support in accessing gender-affirming care, please contact @transmedicalmutualaid from our website.
Until next summer, happy trails!
🌈✨ This past weekend (July 18–20) we gathered for the annual Queer Campout — a fundraiser for gender-affirming care, and a celebration of queer joy in the great outdoors.
We tie-dyed, woodblock-printed commemorative shirts, played group games, swam in the quarry, cooked over the fire, and slept under the stars — all while helping someone access lifesaving medical care.
Former camp counselors and first-time campers alike came together to create an accessible, affirming outdoor experience. Safe spaces like this are vital — where LGBTQIA+ people can connect with nature and with each other.
I’m so grateful to have attended my first year and to have documented these moments of community and care.
If these photos or the mission inspire you, please consider donating or following @queercampout to support the next campout in August 🏕❤️
Special thanks to @campgroundwizard for having me on as an Art Assistant + friend 🐸🧙🏻♂️

It’s TRAC’s Pride month person of the week series! First up we’re featuring Logan!
Logan he/him Is a local Madison trans man helping the trans and gender non-conforming community access gender-affirming healthcare.
Logan spent his youth working with people with disabilities, specifically folks with nonverbal autism, and became radicalized by the realities of systemic oppression against disabled folks, other minority groups, and the working class.
After struggling to recieve the lifesaving healthcare that he needed, he got really
interested in helping others access the same care by (hopefully) lowering the
barriers with education, resources, and peer support.
He also runs the Queer Campout - annual summer camp fundraiser for folks getting gender-affirming procedures, started Trans Medical Mutual Aid - local
group providing education, services, supplies, and support to folks seeking gender-affirming medical procedures.
He is on the board of Trans Wellness 509(a)(2) - nonprofit created to house the longstanding community work of local mental health provider, Meier, who has been doing free readiness assessments at community events and training future mental health clinicians in trans-specific best practices.
Logan is also a newly certified as an Insurance Assister with Out2Enroll and can help folks assess medical insurance coverage options for good fit based on their LGBTQ+ specific health needs.
Logan is a longtime believer in solidarity, not charity. Donate some money at and he won’t see penny of it, but someone who needs it certainly will.
Fun fact about logan: i always have a kite with me.
Logan book recommendation:
Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson
Logan favorite hobbies: tboy wrestling, backpacking, being weirdly social
Logan’s also involved with other stuff when available, like TRAC and SEEN MKE.
Three things:
Wanna go to camp? Registration is open now at our website!
Are you BIPOC or transfemme? Is the camp you want to attend already full? We saved registrations just for you in both camps. Please dm or send a contact request on the website, and we'll get you registered into your preferred camp as long as it's not *actually* at capacity. Our campership options are still available - reduced fee or free attendance, and/or use of the camp sleeping mats or sleeping bags. Our sleeping bags have silk-lined hoods, so they're friendly to all hair!
Are you going to need money for a gender-affirming procedure? Applications to be the fund recipient are still open! Fill out the form on our website under the About tab
Happy trails! See you this summer!
We canceled our QC trip to the ski hill to join Boardslide Mission on their annual Pride Ride, and it was an absolute blast! Show them some love at @boardslide.crew ! Applications to be the next Queer Campout surgery fund recipient open at the end of this month. Registration for Queer Campout 2025 will open around the same time. Both will be available on our website at
Happy trails!
Another successful Big Gay Market! We managed to raise ~$200 in donations and mug sales for our 2024 surgery fund recipient, thanks in part to the "bone mugs" collaboration with @the_rat_tail taxidermy. We also connected multiple transgender folks with important information about surgeons, insurance requirements, wait list estimates, local resources for care and letters, and financial aid application materials for local hospitals. We taught another lot of folks how to strip, drain, measure, and clean a top surgery J-drain and a few drain demo visitors from previous markets came back to show off their top surgery results, which was lovely.
A huge thank you to all of our booth visitors and donors! You can catch us at the next Big Gay Market with @transmedicalmutualaid , where we'll be running a whole transgender surgery 101 clinic along with the usual drain demo and some new hands-on materials!
Come hang out and help us raise even more money before next year by attending the QC Year-Round events - listed in highlights.
Little bit late, but here's some pics of the October QC outing to bike and boat in Waukesha. Everybody else was too shy for photos, but it was the perfect day for picnics and pedaling.
Thank you to everyone who came to Last Rites for transxploitation movies and camp/food fundraising! We have more movie nights on the books, so there are more chances to attend in the future for queer comraderie and film analysis from our local expert. Check highlights for information and sign up links for our other events! The next group outing is Pedaling and Paddling in Waukesha - which includes an hour rental of a bike or boat (including 2-4 person bicycles, recumbent bikes, paddleboats, and more), plus lunch
