About the LA LGBTQ+ Arts & Culture Coalition Mission The LA LGBTQ+ Arts & Culture Coalition is a network of artists, organizers, and cultural institutions committed to uplifting LGBTQ+ voices and countering political, cultural, and institutional attacks on our communities. We advance coordinated advocacy, resource sharing, and collective power building across the cultural sector. Vision We envision a world where Queer and Trans people live and create without fear—where full self-expression is met not with erasure, discrimination, and violence, but with recognition, celebration, and material support from the broader cultural landscape. History In 2025, following a wave of local and national rollbacks targeting LGBTQ+ rights—including arts institutions preemptively withdrawing support under political pressure—One Institute convened a group of LGBTQ+ artists, arts workers, organizations, and culture makers to respond. This cross-disciplinary gathering laid the groundwork for a lasting regional alliance dedicated to collective defense, public visibility, creative resistance, and building power as a sector. Goals + Objectives Build regional solidarity among LGBTQ+ artists, organizations, and allies. Protect queer and trans nonprofit organizations, artists, and creative workers by advocating for increased visibility, protections, and public investment in LGBTQ+ people and projects. Quantify and articulate the collective economic, social, and cultural impact of LGBTQ+ artists and institutions. Build public will and cultivate donor engagement for queer-led cultural work. #queerarts #lgbtqartists #losangelesartists #queeractivism #artsadvocacy #coalition

You are invited to participate in the 2026 LA County LGBTQ+ Arts and Culture Coalition @queerartsla Community Survey conducted in partnership with Arts for LA @arts4la and supported by Los Angeles County. Please click link in bio and complete this survey whether you are an individual artist, represent an arts organization, or both. This initiative seeks to assess the needs of LGBTQ+ arts and culture communities and provide informed recommendations for strategic requests for direct support. It builds on our community’s history of using data to inform policy decisions and address legal rights and disparities. Your input is essential for shaping effective advocacy and obtaining support from civic leaders, funders, and the public. The final report will be published in late summer 2026. The Queer Arts LA Coalition formed in 2025 in response to federal attacks and widespread budget cuts impacting queer arts and culture communities. The coalition brings together a growing network of artists, organizers, and institutions to support LGBTQ+ creative communities by fostering advocacy for arts funding and visibility, while countering threats to queer spaces and programming. The survey will take individuals less than 5 minutes to complete. If you are completing the survey on behalf of an organization, please be prepared to share information about your budget size and other financial metrics. Please be assured that the survey results are fully anonymized to protect your privacy. Your voluntary and confidential help in gathering this information is greatly appreciated. Please share this survey with others in the LGBTQ+ Art & Culture communities in Los Angeles County as appropriate. Please complete the survey by our NEW deadline midnight Monday, May 11, 2026. Thank you for your participation.

Last night the LA Queer Arts Coalition had a special pre-show reception before Foursome — the world premiere co-produced with IAMA Theatre Company and Celebration Theatre. It’s a sharply observed comedy about gay millennial life: deeply funny, a little uncomfortable in the best way, and refreshingly honest about friendship, ambition, image, and intimacy. Huge shoutout to the brilliant cast who brought it all to life: @matthew_scott_montgomery (who also wrote it!) @el_adriangonzalez @jiminmmoon @calvin.seabrooks Everyone left talking about connection, friendship, and the messy, funny way we try to be adults. Thanks @chrismaikish @celebrationthtr for the invitation! #LAQueerArts #CelebrationTheater #QueerTheatre #FoursomePlay #iamatheatre

This year, LA LGBTQ+ Arts and Culture Coalition came together as 77 individuals 34 organizations with one shared instinct: don’t just survive the moment—build power for the long haul. ✨ What we want: • Safeguard funding • Strengthen access & visibility • Move beyond crisis response • Envision the cultural infrastructure our community actually deserves As the year closes, we’re reflecting— and sharpening tools for what’s next. Curious who we are? Wondering where you fit? 👋 DM us. Tell us about yourself. We’d love to connect. Next year isn’t about scrambling. It’s about building. Together. #queerarts #lgbtcommunity #lgbtactivism #artsactivism #lgbtqartists
