January 1 I think year recaps are total bullshit. But since everyone is doing them, let’s start with the most important result of last year: I’m alive. This was the hardest and scariest year of my life. There were situations where I could have been killed for real. There were moments when I could have disappeared — in a prison, in a foreign country, in the hands of people who wouldn’t have cared what happened to me. This year never gave me a break. First of all, I want to thank my parents. They did an incredible job. They raised me with strength, resilience, and a strong inner core. If it weren’t for how they brought me up, I don’t know if I would have survived everything I went through. Thank you to my therapist. @valentina_au_ For holding me when I was falling apart. When I was scared, when I lost my ground, when the world was collapsing. Thank you to my friends. For being there when people were looking for me, when no one knew where I was, in which city or even which country. For the care, the worry, and the love. For the fact that the friendships I have didn’t break — they became stronger and closer. And most of all, I want to thank myself. For who I am. For never giving up. For not betraying myself or my principles, even when it would have been easier to break. I went through hell and stayed myself. Happy New Year, motherfuckers! 🖤
