There’s no such thing as a lie-in when you’re the perfectionist Sconeman @stephen_cottage recently profiled in @thetimes by @maxolesker . He makes every single scone, lovingly, by hand - classic, fruit & cheese, mustard & smoked paprika - even when he is making 600+ on both Saturday & Sunday. His regular clients include @sketchlondon@sallyclarkeltd@farmshopuk@queensofmayfair@finnschelsea@brindisaspanishfoods #hildrethstreet Balham @hjfinecheeses plus local customers who order direct & collect for parties, picnics & treats. He recently did a sold out pop-up @nimbcopenhagen with further pop-ups under discussion. His commitment & finesse is amazing. I love 💕 him. #scones #afternoontea #handmade #artisan
Queens of Mayfair, London
Last spring, early May — I was in London for the Law Exchange International Global Conference at the Hilton Mayfair.
Breakfast at the hotel was chaotic. Too many guests, not enough control.
So I stepped out.
Five minutes’ walk brought me to Queens of Mayfair — and that changed the mornings entirely.
We ended up returning two days in a row.
First morning — “Fit For A King.”
A proper Full English. Everything done well, but the standout was the bacon.
Thick cut, crisp on the outside, still tender within. Not aggressively salt-cured — just balanced, clean, and deeply satisfying.
With a pot of English Breakfast tea, it was exactly what you want to start the day.
Second morning — “Royal Fungus.”
Pan-fried porcini over soft scrambled eggs on brioche, finished with shaved truffle.
A simple dish, elevated properly. Rich, but not heavy.
And yes — I still ordered bacon on the side.
La Reine — French toast with bacon and maple syrup.
Chosen by my dining companion, and the right call.
Sweet, salty, and indulgent without being cloying — the kind of contrast that works when it’s done properly.
The server suggested a Spanish latte.
She was right.
What I appreciated most — nothing felt forced.
Good ingredients, well handled, in a space that feels calm and considered.
If you are in the area, it’s well worth the visit.
But it does get busy — reservations recommended, especially towards lunch.
A place that doesn’t try too hard — and gets it right because of it. #londonfoodguide #londonrestaurantreviews #londonrestaurants #restaurantreview

London brunch, but make it artisan ✨ @queensofmayfair
We ordered the Lamb Shakshuka, Silk Road, and the Chocolate Affair French toast… and honestly, every dish was delicious. Everything felt thoughtfully made, fresh, and full of flavour—exactly what you want from a brunch spot.
If you love pistachio, the pistachio matcha latte is a must try. So rich, creamy, and packed with that deep pistachio flavour 🌿
Such a cosy, artisan-style spot that feels like a little escape in the middle of London. Must try💛
