Four decades of sound, one elevated stage.
This May for NZ Music Month, Nathan Haines takes over Queens Rooftop with a four-part Sunday residency — curating artists he’s collaborated with, recorded with, and championed across his career. Expect live sets, deep vinyl selections, and a rare glimpse into the world of one of Aotearoa’s most influential jazz musicians.
We are delighted to be partnering with our good friends at Queens Rooftop to present a new series, premiering this King’s Birthday weekend on Sunday 31 May: SKY HIGH featuring two incredible international guests!
Kai Alcé is one of the most respected DJs/producers in the U.S. underground scene. Kai Alcé is a DJ’s DJ. Not hype-driven. Not trend-chasing. Not algorithm music. His releases span the gamut of the best in American dance music labels, from Moodymann’s Mahoghani Music to Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature. A bonafide legend in his own right, we’re delighted to be hosting his first ever performance here in Aotearoa.
Lovie is a rising New York City DJ/selector who has built a strong reputation in Brooklyn’s underground dance scene for warm, soulful, community-driven sets that blend house, disco, funk, jazz, and spiritual dance music. She was named one of Mixmag’s Top 25 Breakthrough DJs of 2024 and has developed a loyal following through radio and club residencies. She has recently launched a show on Gilles Peterson Worldwide FM.
Join us on King’s Birthday Sunday 31 May at Queens Rooftop for SKY HIGH featuring international guest DJs direct from USA - Kai Alce & Lovie, alongside Music First residents, Frank Booker & Samuel Harmony.
