Oh nothing just met THE MOTHA of MOTHAS
Such an honor to meet such a gracious and kind woman. Thank you @mstinaknowles for coming to our Her Legacy event and sharing your story with us and our founder and innovative woman in her own right Ms. @iamcathyhughes , and for also giving me and the team a special edition copy of your book (signed!!!!!! 😭😭😭)
Got the awesome opportunity to meet comedy and MTV legend @billbellamy 🩷 He is so kind, hilarious (obvi) and it was such an amazing experience. Also, he loved my Michael Jackson tat lol 😭
Happy #MichaelMovie release day to all my fellow moonwalkers! ♥️ It’s been a long time coming! I’ve already seen the movie twice (😭) Don’t believe the negative press, it is worth the watch and humanizes our dear MJ in a way we’ve never seen on screen. Jaafar and Colman also put on a stellar performance!!
My dearest Applehead, your music has encouraged and impacted my life in an unimaginable way. The retelling of your story is so so magical!
Y’all go see Micheal!!
Guess what everyone, I finally did it! I dropped a podcast! Introducing Diary of a Black Band, a music show where I give flowers to Black groups and discuss their impacts, hits and deep cuts! Head over to @diaryofblackband to listen to my first episode about Soul For Real! Available everywhere you listen to podcasts 💚
It was not long ago when we lost Chadwick Boseman to colon cancer in 2020. Now, he is being honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Here is a video in 2014 after the release of “Get On Up” where him and our recently departed D’Angelo perform at the Hollywood Bowl after the movie release in tribute to James Brown. Both icons in their own right, gone too soon 🩵
We're back this weekend with Session 011!
After 1984's The Woman In Red, the world awaited for Stevie's highly anticipated proper follow up, as he hadn't released an album since Hotter Than July in 1980.
This weekend's session, we're diving into 1985's "In Square Circle", Stevie's first studio album in five years, and arguably the best of his late 80s run, from the album's mesmerizing purple color palette to the timeless classics Overjoyed, & Part Time Lover, with stunning deep cuts such as Whereabouts, I Love You Too Much. We will also be discussing Stevie Wonder's growing social/political stance opposing apartheid in South Africa, in 1985.
We're excited to have her perspective woven into this conversation!
We're also excited to bring back our dear friend Glyniss Wiggins, @queenglyn who joined us during Session 006 for Fulfillingness' First Finale. We're excited again to have her back on with us!
