Today marks one month since I lost my soulmate, my best friend, and my first love. My beautiful Mother has passed away. She was only 47 years old. She was my everything, but i have peace knowing she is no longer suffering. I am broken, paralyzed, and not able to function right now. I am in so so much pain. She was my rock, my pillar of strength and the reason I got up in the morning. My mom’s legacy was a powerful and exceptional one. Her existence is why hope and the American Dream exists. She came to this country when she was 16 years old. She faced lots of obstacles including racism, xenophobia, domestic violence , misogyny, classism and amongst all these things she remained strong, resilient and succeeded. She was selfless, virtuous, generous and righteous. She was a philanthropist and spent over 25 years helping her community and making the world a better place. She was passionate about humanity. She believed you should walk this earth with kindness, positivity, and compassion in order to heal and overcome pain. I will miss her lifting me up when I was down. I will miss her laugh, her smile, her kisses and her embrace. I’ll miss talking to her everyday and hearing her sweet voice. But I know she will always be with me. She owns my heart. My mother would always say “La Vita Bella,” Life is beautiful, and it was beautiful for me because life blessed me with her as my mother. Tu y yo siempre Mami, Hasta el final. Te Amo.

Now MORE THAN EVER I am proud to be MEXICAN-AMERICAN. My ancestors and fellow Mexicanos have always contributed to the USA. We are the foundation in this country that was once OURS. There is so much xenophobia and racism AmeriKKKa, but it’s nothing new. We are here and we ain’t going nowhere. This is our country too. VIVA LA RAZA ✊🏽🇲🇽 📸 @jeffreyfortsonphotography

Today is National Coming Out Day. It’s been 7 years since I came out and chose to live my truth. Not one day goes by where I regret my decision. I am a queer. I am Mexican. I am pansexual, demisexual and sapiosexual . I am revolutionary. ✊🏽🏳️‍🌈
