Witnessing my own progress over the past two years ✨
I first made this cake back in March 2024.
Looking at my earlier work now, I can really see how much I’ve improved over these two years.
I’ve switched to a new technique, still using edible materials, but the result is now much more refined and detailed 🍓
Many people think this is a story about magic.
But in truth, it is about a young girl’s growth and independence.
With her black cat Jiji by her side, Kiki rides her broom to a seaside town to begin a life on her own.
Between each delivery and every flight,
she learns to face loneliness and confront self-doubt.
She loses her magic.
She feels uncertain about the future.
In the city winds, she questions her own worth and place in the world.
That helplessness and unease
feel so much like what we experience while learning to stand on our own.
Yet in the end, she does not choose dependence,
nor does she give up on herself.
Through stumbles and setbacks,
she slowly rediscovers her inner strength,
and with dignity and courage,
grows into her own beautiful and steadfast self.
May every girl
have an independent and resilient heart —
never clinging, never shrinking,
free to soar in her own sky. ✨
