The Salesian Sisters, founded in 1872, have been working out of Croxteth, Liverpool for years and
@vppr_architects have just done a retrofit of two 1990s semi-detached houses into their convent. The project comprises a communal hall above which brings together the two sides of the building, a simple lean-to building elevated into a chapel and the addition of a new roof and windows. Spaces were conceived to be adaptable, capable of hosting a range of activities from quiet moments of reflection and smaller group gatherings to larger communal events.
We supplied 230sq m of our carbon-negative Corkform Flux Ecru for a material palette chosen for its warmth, durability and sustainability. These natural textures and muted tones foster a sense of comfort and familiarity, while resilient surfaces ensure longevity and practicality for everyday use.
