This June, we proudly return to our annual tradition of spotlighting LGBTQIA+ cinema throughout different eras of filmmaking. This year we have our most expansive series yet. Ranging from Hollywoodâs Golden Age and its most legendary directors, transgressive cinema from the late 60s and 70s and visually stunning romances from the 90s.

From May 5-28th, the Quad Cinema invites you to explore the strange and often unsettling textures of small-town life-- where isolation shapes identity and reality can feel just slightly off-kilter. Across these four films, small communities can sometimes be the idyllic refuge but also spaces of disconnection, performance, and buried tension. Welcome to American Elsewhere!

The graphic novel A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE was written by Judge Dredd creator John Wagner and originally published in 1997 by Vertigo Comics, an imprint of DC Comics. Screenwriter Josh Olson earned an Oscar nomination for his adaptation.
