KYULIM KIM [COREA DEL SUR] Presentamos a Kyulim Kim (Seúl/Ámsterdam), quien se suma a AZOTEA para una residencia de investigación durante el próximo mes. La práctica de Kyulim se sitúa en el umbral donde lo sólido se desvanece; su trabajo cuestiona la fijeza de los lugares representados para revelarlos como entidades fluidas a través del uso de tecnologías audiovisuales. Su investigación reciente se desplaza hacia la ontología de la imagen: las estructuras y procesos mediante los cuales una representación emerge o se disuelve, en un intento radical por capturar aquello que permanece invisible al ojo saturado. Con un recorrido que conecta las escenas de Seúl y Ámsterdam —presentando recientemente proyectos como A Wobbling Shadow (Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, Idle Space) y Memory and Matter—, Kyulim llega a Buenos Aires para explorar las potencias de la materia y la memoria en un nuevo contexto territorial. Durante su estancia, habitaremos junto a ella las preguntas sobre la desaparición y la persistencia de lo visual. Próximamente compartiremos un Open Studio donde Kyulim Kim abrirá sus procesos conceptuales y nos invitará a observar las estructuras invisibles que sostienen su investigación actual.

Curated with and around the work of visual artist Kyulim Kim, this experimental short film program features a rare selection of her works plus the Dutch premiere of 'Magenta', which forms part of her newest installation called '600minutes' which recently opened at the Arko Art Center in Seoul. Contextualizing her work will be three films by other artists personally selected by Kyulim in an effort to suggest a dialogue between films, such as 'Morning After the Deluge' by Paul Pfeiffer, 'Köln Waves/Blues' by Seth Price, and 'The Woolworths Choir of 1979' by Elizabeth Price. For most of the films in the program, this marks a first and ultra rare opportunity to experience them on the big screen — an experience you don't want to miss!
