JUST ANNOUNCED: In March 2027, Tommy Mesa will present the world premiere of Michael Abels’ new Cello Concerto with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in his DSO debut alongside Maestro Samuel Lee. Abels is known for his concert music and his work in film music, notably for the scores to Jordan Peele’s films including Us, Nope and the Oscar®-winning film Get Out. Conductor Samuel Lee takes the Meyerson podium for the first time in this program, which also includes Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from On the Town and Dvořák’s tranquil Symphony No. 8.
The Quad City Symphony Orchestra will also perform the work and release the first commercial recording alongside additional orchestra performances to be confirmed and announced!
