We’re running radio ads this weekend raising awareness about urban sprawl, climate, nature and the Official Plan. Share this post to help us spread the word! Here are 3 more ways you can help: 📑 Submit comments on the draft Official Plan by this Sunday, May 3. Our volunteers have created an updated Official Plan Toolkit to make it easy to get informed and take action. It includes key concerns, background information, and simple instructions on how to submit comments. Link in bio! 🏛️ Contact your City Councillor – Call or email to share your concerns and urge action. If you can’t reach them by phone, please leave a voicemail—every message counts. Email mayor&[email protected] or email your councillor directly. ✍️ 3. Sign and share the petition. There’s a link in our bio and it’s on the climatecoalition.ca website. #ygk #kingstonontario #ygklove #ygkcommunity #ygkkingston

Kingston is at a crossroads. Decisions made today about our Urban Boundary will lock us into how we grow, move, and spend tax dollars until 2051. But right now, City Council is being asked to vote on large urban growth boundary expansions before the homework is finished. Council is being asked to sign a “blank cheque”. Critical reports on the long-term cost of new sewer, water, and electrical infrastructure construction, the capacity of our roads, the increased transportation costs, and the economic and environmental impact on our disappearing wetlands and forests haven’t been completed or made public yet. Proceeding without this data isn’t just bad planning—it’s a financial and environmental risk to every Kingston resident. Sign this petition to demand that data comes before decisions. Tell Mayor Paterson and Council: No expansion decisions until the full fiscal and environmental costs are presented to and voted on by council. Link in bio!

Join us for Toxic Trivia! 🛢️☠️ Monday, March 30 at Tommy’s Diner, starting at 8pm. We’ll provide the snacks. You help us bust Big Oil’s propaganda – one trivia question at a time! RSVP now at the link in our bio. The climate crisis keeps getting worse, but fossil fuel billionaires and their political allies are trying to persuade Canadians to ignore the wildfires and floods, and support new pipelines. But we know that ever-expanding oil and gas extraction only offers short term profits for the powerful few while unleashing death, destruction, and precarity for the many. Queen’s Backing Action on the Climate Crisis and the Kingston Climate Justice Coalition are hosting this Toxic Trivia party to expose Big Oil’s propaganda, and have some fun while doing it! Featuring free food, exciting prizes, and the chance to connect with other community members who care about climate action. Space is limited, so RSVP now at the link in our bio! All ticket proceeds will be donated to local organizations working to protect our environment and advance climate action. #kingstonevents #climateaction #climatecrisis #trivianight
