心心相印 • heart to heart
once again inspired by one of @violaineetjeremy 's beautiful typefaces, Love.
while i was working on this, Kylie Minogue's Two Hearts came to mind. i remember discovering the song on mtv back then and it's 13 years old now! danggg.
it was challenging to readapt Love's elegant thin stems and wide counter, but it was a good practice!

“there are times to bloom where we are planted, and times for us to be transplanted so we can bloom even better elsewhere.”
some days trying to progress makes me feel weepy and frustrated — it feels like i can’t break out of my seed shell, like nothing is happening.
but i’m learning to trust in the wait and the becoming. to trust and follow where He leads.

when i was a design student, i actually hoped to major in illustration. but i never developed a “personal style” nor a flair for drawing then, so out of practicality, i chose the branding path. i accepted that illustration was not for me.
it was only until i started working a few years in that i learned to see illustrations through geometry. i was quite inspired by Ikko Tanaka, whose minimal use of shapes and colours gave me a new perspective about illustration.
his work gave me new ideas to try again. i’m relearning and rediscovering with every piece i make 🔴

‘Flow’ was the theme I chose to lean on in 2025. These letters were made with and inspired by @prixelpress ’s free grid template, which I had a lot of fun with!
‘Flow’ wasn’t always about ease or calm waters, but more about learning where flow is disrupted. Learning to sit in and be aware where the flow stopped. It got draining to stay in the current sometimes but I faced it honestly. It stretched me but I grew into it.
Very thankful to have people I could lean on as I ebb and flow. Here’s to moving with more rhythm this 2026! 🌊🏄🏻♀️

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the Japanese philosophical idea of 間 (ma) – the “in-between”, the space or pause that gives meaning to things. It’s more than emptiness; it’s a presence in absence, a silence that speaks.
Like 間, the absence in grief has weight too.
Today marks 5 years since my mother passed, and the void sometimes still feels heavy in my heart. But over the years, I have learned to carry it gently. Slowly and surely, I found new meanings with it.
Her silence holds the quiet fullness of love, and I continue to find her presence.

This was a phrase on an ad I saw back in New York a year ago (I wish I took a photo of it), which has been stuck on my mind since.
I usually think of myself as a slow and soft bloomer. I like to take small and careful steps. But when I saw the ad, it struck and encouraged me to try and take bigger moves. Allow myself to let loose, be (a little) crazy and adventurous.
So here is my attempt at being a little louder. Enjoy!
