Coming back from Portugal… I attended the SoilTribes Kick-Off-Meeting, quite proud to be selected and receive EU funding for our upcoming project „Subtera“!
Met such an inspiring crowd there. 30 groundbreaking projects from all over Europe (selected out of 367), all interweaving art, music, science, education... and SOIL, the meta-topic that is so crucial to us and the planet.
I realized that sometimes it is so hard to explain why I (and some dear people around me) invest ourselves so intensely in the connection between music and ecological transformation.
Then came the Portugal weekend and I saw: there are other people out there, working on the same, interweaving art, music, science, education, community work, music. So wonderful to be part of this network and witness 29 other European SoilTribes projects grow within this year.
The weather in Portugal these days was intense: heavy rains, strong winds, sunny moments. It mirrored my feelings through the conference: the world is in a turbulent state and the news seem to get worse every day but there ARE solutions ☀️ and good people who can bring them to life. Thank you...Obrigado!

Memorial concert for @axel.kuhn tonight at @jazzhausfreiburg . We say goodbye to a looooongtime colleague and friend of mine who passed away in 2024. we played together since the90s and later lead the jazz studies at @hfm.freiburg where Axel was professor for saxophone. Good bye buddy. Hope you listen to us tonight and smile.

Lots of music coming up in 2026. My new project „Subtera“ is selected by the EU and the innovation fund of the state of Baden Württemberg... so exciting! More news soon. What else? Bossarenova Trio has a new release and will tour in fall! My new band, the Soil Music Collective plays festivals in spring and summer, can’t wait! And some dates coming up in Freiburg: on 2 Feb we will do a memorial concert for Axel Kühn and on 11feb a big project with Big Band and Choir of @hfm.freiburg . Stay tuned and see you hopefully soon.
