ANDREA MATTHEWS will be showing at UNDERFOOT opening TOMORROW 5/8 from 6 to 9 pm!!! Andrea Matthews is a queer printmaker, papermaker, painter, and all-around object maker living in Queens yet working in Brooklyn. Their practice is primarily informed by religion, research, discarded objects, and a fascination with the multiple. For forty hours a week, they can be found handling art and crafting strangely specific contraptions to transport that art. Swipe to see more of Andrea’s work!

SARA (SE) CARLSEN will be showing at UNDERFOOT which opens in 2 DAYS!! The group show curated by Elizabeth Sundahl will hold an opening from 6-9 pm on May 8th. Sara (SE) Carlsen (she/they) is a producer and documentary producer, editor, and director. They make films about LGBTQ+ and Midwest-focused histories. She just debuted her first short film “Peaceful Acres” at Farm to Film Festival in Iowa and is in post-production on the documentary “Trans Joy Camp”. They love video work and documentary because it’s an art form that takes an active role in changing our world and leaves them feeling changed. MARIN CARR-QUIMET will be showing at UNDERFOOT opening at Pushup Gallery this Friday, May 8th 6-9pm. The group show curated by Elizabeth Sundahl features painting, sculpture, video, and installation. Marin Carr-Quimet is a multi-media artist working primarily in ceramic sculpture and installation. Their works often depict creatures and beasts that are caught permanently in ambiguous states of morphing, moving and decaying, shapeshifting between species or transforming between living and dead. Their work is based heavily in material and the built environment, informed by research in liberation theology and social ecology. Their work explores exploitation of both bodies and what we consider nature, and the power which capital exerts over the living which is pervasive both in our material surroundings and beliefs. LIV DAVIDSON will be showing at Pushup Gallery’s group show UNDERFOOT. The show curated by Elizabeth Sundahl will open on May 8th from 6 to 9 pm. Liv Davidson is a research based interdisciplinary artist raised on Long Island, NY, currently living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Her work explores environmental concerns and the natural world, investigating anthropocentrism she creates video, photo, installation, print, and sound-based works. She has exhibited at Dock 72 in Brooklyn, NY, and at Wilbraham & Monson Academy in Wilbraham, MA and holds an MFA in Photography from Pratt Institute and a dual BA in Environmental Studies and Studio Art from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. SAMUEL LEONE will be showing work at UNDERFOOT opening on May 8th 6-9pm. The group show curated by Elizabeth Sundahl will feature painting, sculpture, video, and installation works from 12 artists. Samuel Leone (b. 2003) is a visual artist based in NYC exploring the genre of en plein air painting. CALEB STOLTZFUS will be showing at UNDERFOOT. The group show curated by Elizabeth Sundahl will open at Pushup Gallery on May 8th from 6 to 9pm. The show will run through the end of May. Caleb (b. 1992) is an interdisciplinary artist with 15 years of figurative and landscape painting experience. In 2023 he extended into sculpture and installation, working with cardboard, heavy polymer adhesive, and gouache. He uses the familiar, grounded texture of cardboard as a disarming substrate for expansive themes like ritual, bloodlust, performance, and mercy. ERIN O’FLYNN will be showing work at UNDERFOOT. A group show curated by Elizabeth Sundahl, opening May 8th 6-9pm at Pushup Gallery. Erin O’Flynn is an artist based in Brooklyn, who uses printmaking, photography, sculpture, and video to reorient our relationship to our environment’s histories and futures. They have exhibited at Clamp, Patient Info, Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Flush Gallery, Zero Art Fair, 3rdstory, Pratt’s Institutes Photography Gallery and Manhattan Gallery. Erin received their MFA in Photography from Pratt Institute in 2024. They are a former resident at Manhattan Graphics Center and the Vermont Studio Center and have had their work featured on Artforum, Dovetail and Hyperallergic. Swipe to see more of Erin’s work!

MATTHEW DIESING will be showing at UNDERFOOT- a group show curated by Elizabeth Sundahl. The show will open on May 8th from 6-9pm. Matthew Diesing is a contemporary mixed media artist based out of New York. He is a graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Fine Arts class of 2025. During his time at F.I.T, he developed a multifaceted art making practice by using materials such as concrete, foam spray, resin, porno mags, plywood, tin foil, house paint, and antique statues. He is known for his visceral work in a variety of mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, film, and music. Diesing’s work explores topics such as depravity, appropriation, facism, and humor. Diesing takes influence from Paul McCarthy, Arthur Jafa, Ser Serpas, Dieter Roth, The Chapman Brothers, Mark Bradford, Oscar Murillo, and David Lynch. Swipe to see some of Matthew’s other work! 🔨

MOLLY BURT-WESTVIG will be showing at UNDERFOOT. The group show curated by Elizabeth Sundahl will open May 8th from 6 to 9 pm. Molly Burt-Westvig is a visual artist who works across modes and media: painting, video, sculpture, and installation. Through interventions with industrial materials her work meddles with the landscape of the everyday, transforming the stressful stuff of commutes and city living into a liberatory experience through its undoing. She received her MFA in 2024 from the Tyler School of Art and was featured in New American Paintings #165. In 2025 she received the American Austrian Foundation Seebacher Prize for Fine Arts. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and project spaces across the U.S. and abroad including James Oliver Gallery, Vox Populi, Co-Re Haus der Statistik, and The Figge Art Museum. XINCHEN LI will be showing at UNDERFOOT- opening on May 8th from 6-9pm at Pushup Gallery. The group show curated by Elizabeth Sundahl will include painting, sculpture, video, and installation works from 12 artists. Xinchen Li is a contemporary jewelry artist and installation sculptor whose work explores memory, migration, and belonging through domestic objects and spatial forms. Using materials such as PLA filament drawn by hand with a 3D printing pen, she creates jewelry and large-scale installations that transform personal and cultural histories into fragile, immersive environments.
