We all likely heard of box breathing & the 5 senses technique. Here are some more grounding techniques that can help you regain control and calm when feeling overstimulated, anxious, or disconnected.

Happy New Month dear friends 🧘🏾♀️🌸🌷
May is a time of renewal, growth, and abundance. Many celebrations come with May including Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and graduations. May this new month bring good fortunes.

Reaching a goal you once only dreamed about can feel surreal, especially when self-doubt and imposter syndrome try to convince you that you don’t deserve it.
But growth often feels unfamiliar before it feels comfortable. The long nights, hard work, sacrifices, and resilience it took to get here were real, and so is your success. You are not “lucky” for reaching what required strength, discipline, and courage. Allow yourself to celebrate the version of you that kept going, even while doubting yourself.

This recent reset was so timely. People always ask me how I cope as a therapist, and — apart from having the gift of compartmentalization — it’s also by knowing when to take time off to recup.
Compassion fatigue and burnout are REAL, and we cannot show up as our best selves if we do not prioritize our own self care and needs (mentally, physically, and emotionally).
If you’re someone who’s been struggling to take a break for whatever reasons or fears, please take this as a reminder to take the time off and come back stronger.

Hit a season of transitions, and realized it’s time to slow ALL the way down & reset. 🩵☀️🌴⛱️
Working hard is a given, especially in this economy, but I firmly believe in resting and enjoying life even harder.

Slow, steady, and controlled. Life doesn’t always afford us such fortunes, but we must strive to regain balance after disruptions. 🪷

Trenton Arts at Princeton: TYT Spring Showcase 🎭
Xander and I compiled a range of monologues, and let the students select one that resonated with them. The semester featured weekly monologue workshops, with coaching and feedback. Here are snippets of the final products.

Another successful showcase, and the bar keeps rising 👏🏾🎭 Xander and I’s goal for TYT this year was to strengthen our students’ performance abilities — from scene work to monologues.
We dedicated the fall/winter semester to scene work, and our students performed a series of scenes from various plays for the Winter Showcase. We also leveled up the performances with set design & lighting all done by our amazing coaches (not all photographed).
After winter break, we hit the ground running with monologue work, and our spring showcase featured monologue performances under the theme of ‘Adolescence’. Yet again, the bar was raised and we watched our students grow as performers and individuals with the support of our coaches. It’s safe to say this year’s goal was accomplished, and plenty fun was had throughout the process.
