Edward Tulane for Edmonton Repertory Theatre. A very quick side project for @jenniferkrezlewicz .Sculpted and patterned by me, paint by @stripyscribbles , weathering by @galacticleah with digital scanning and cleanup by @reesejohnls The show requires multiples of the character in varying conditions so it was the perfect project to utilize 3d scanning and printing for fast and budget conscious replication .
The face was what came out of mind immediately after reading the script, without reference photos. The sculpt is a bit modern, stylistically , for the time period the play is set in… but I thought it captured a sort of naivety and sympathetic charm that would read well on stage.

Get your arms up in the air and find out what goes into making magic for a television puppet show with professional puppeteers Brendan James Boyd and Reese Scott, who’s credits include Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, the Calgary’s Future commercial campaign, Tina’s Tales of Terror, and more! Participants will get to explore the style popularized by children’s television by using a variety of puppet types to explore the possibilities, challenges and techniques used to create a convincing and captivating performance on camera.
