FORGOTTEN TALENT✨️🎭🎪 . I’m REALLY close to giving up. I feel DEFEATED. I’ve been a full-time puppeteer and artist for over 20 years, and between the economy and these social media algorithms, it feels like a losing battle. I can honestly say I’m one of the most creative individuals in Los Angeles, and probably the only one doing what I do with El Triste and La Smiley. But to see it constantly overlooked… to see prices of everything rise while the value of my work keeps dropping… it’s draining. I sell online, I get shadowbanned on social media for the things I post. I vend and people haggle my prices. I even offer cost-friendly options and still get ignored. And hearing “KEEP GOING” or “Don’t stop” feels like someone giving a bandaid after a car crash. That’s not enough. Artists—especially independent immigrant artists like myself—need real support and real solutions. I’m usually the one giving encouragement and pep talks, reminding others not to quit… but right now I’m tired.
